I bought an item. It didn't work. I took a picture of the item and said "please advise." I was told by the seller that my picture didn't match the seller's picture and that "Although this may be an honest mistake on your part, I'm obligated to report the incident to eBay in an effort to protect sellers...."
So how do I appeal the report?

What report???
If you're not happy with your purchase, open a Return request. You'll return the item you received for a full refund.

Instead of contacting the seller, all you have to do is file a Return Request.
Good luck!

Have you read eBay's Money Back Guarantee for buyers? It's seen in every listing and is really quite good. Another poster has given you detailed directions on how to use it. There is no reason or need to contact the seller at all.

@hubo-43 You have purchased an item on a platform that offers a money back guarantee, so you have nothing to worry about. Just follow the procedures for a return. Go to your purchase history and select the item. Mark it as item not as described, which is the option you need to select, and it doesn't work so it's correct. You only get one chance at opening a return case so take your time and choose this option. Seller will have to send you a return label and then all you have to do is print the return label and ship it back before the time period ends. Very simple and you will receive a full refund. Seller is telling you fibs because you are new to eBay and they are relying on your naivete. Best of luck to you....
