Allstate protection plan popup does not allow proceeding to checkout--it just keeps spinning

this is preventing me from buying an item--how do I get rid of it, if I use adblock it gives a white space that still does not allow proceeding to checkout

It might help if you tell us if you are using a phone or computer, and the operating system and/or browser you use.

I doubt it is the Allstate pop up alone that is causing the problem, if Adblock is stopping it.  It could be that you need to clear your temporary internet files and cookie cache then restart your device. If you are using the app you may want to try logging in the classic way with your username and password.

I am using my desktop computer in the same way I have been using it for years without this problem. I have a very good firewall installed.  Judging from Googling the complaints regarding the "allstate protection plan" it is essentially a scam perpetrated by ebay.

Yep, consider yourself lucky the popup didn't allow you to proceed. Everything happens for a reason. Your computer was trying to save you from the scam

I think it's an overstatement to call Allstate SquareTrade a scam. Yes, there are numerous complaints about their plans, but they largely stem from people who don't understand how inherently worthless extended warranty plans are. So they're only a scam in the sense that all extended warranties are a scam.

I tried buying the same item the next day and did not have the same problem--so I was probably just experiencing another  very annoying ebay computer glitch.

All extended warranties are inherently worthless. That doesn't mean they fit the definition of 'scam'.

I had the same problem on my Win 10 with pop-up blocker disabled. eBay tried but couldn't come up with a solution for me. I also tried clearing my cache and cookies. I found a work-around in opening the eBay page in a incognito mode page (Chrome). It worked fine.

Now, 12-9-23, even using anonymous to purchase you are forced to load the allstate warranty into the cart or buy it outright with a purchase.  You can, however, delete the warranty from the cart (if you use it) before you purchase. This is a total scam and Ebay must be behind it.  I have been a customer for 14 years and this disgusts me to the point of quitting using Ebay..
