A seller blocked my bid

I feel gutted because I had a bid taken away from me when I did nothing wrong.  I am new to bidding and used eBay sporadically, so I didn’t have a lot off personal information updated.  But, over the last few days I have been bidding (and paying).  The seller said they removed my bid because they didn’t know who I was.  But, how can this be a reason when we are all anonymous? I have since updated my information and I wonder: can a buyer be reinstated back into a bid?  I think the removal process without verification or justification can be very unfair.

Re: A seller blocked my bid

I hate to say this, but at the end of the day, the seller has every right to decide who can bid and who can't on their listings. I know its not what you wanted to hear, but ebay can't force them to unblock you. The only negative outcome for them is that they loose a potential buyer.

Re: A seller blocked my bid

He doesn't want your money.

It's not personal, it's business.

For some reason, he doesn't want to sell to low feedback buyers, particularly those overseas.

Actually, many US sellers won't even ship outside the mainland USA, blocking Alaska, Hawai'i, and outposts of the American empire like Guam and Puerto Rico. Some will not even ship to APO addresses of their own troops.

One other reason he may not want to ship to South Korea is that rather than the domestic 2.9% fee he pays to process your payment, he pays 4.4% for foreign accounts.

You may want to look in Search for sellers with this note on their listings:

Customs services and international tracking provided

This is a sign that the seller will ship internationally using the Global Shipping Program, which offers strong Seller Protections.

Unfortunately, it also means the buyer will not be eligible for much of the eBay Money Back Guarantee.

Always check on the Shipping page of the listing to see if the seller will ship to South Korea  and how much he charges for the service.
If the Shipping page directs you to contact the seller for this, do so BEFORE bidding, because Tracked International Air Mail rates are very high.
