You are only allowed to use paypal if you text.  What's up with that issue?

Buyers can still use PayPal to pay through the ebay checkout.  If you are a seller do not give out your email address for payment as it is a SCAM.

I do not text and PayPal works just fine.  Need more details to comment further.

I recently signed in to PayPal directly to check something in my account. I believe that at that time PayPal required me to verify a phone number by PayPal texting a code to my number, something that PayPal did not require when paying via PayPal at eBay checkout.

There may be other verification options rather than PayPal sending you a code via text, depending on what PayPal is verifying.

I use PayPal everyday everywhere and for my website payments, and never had any request to use text to verify anything.

Do you have a phone number associated with your PayPal account? There may be different verification requirements based on what contact methods you have previously established or verified.

I have a regular home phone on the account, which I think is required, but no cell phone linked to it.
