user names

Hi I'm just wondering why there are so many usernames on here that begin with a letter, number or symbol followed by three asterisks followed by another letter, number or symbol. There must be a reason, it can't just be a random thing. Is there some sort of eBay buy/sell/trade group that these people belong to or something? Thanks...

@legatobear  What you are seeing are the disguised user ID's.  eBay only lets a seller and the buyer that is bidding see the actual user ID.  Everyone else see something random like   s***c2 

That way no one can bother you after an auction and say" hey I wanted that item, how dare you out bid me!  "
