Hi everyone , need some advice, Seller (3 feedback seller) contacted me after a "buy it now", says he underestimated shipping charges and suggested I cancel the order. I have never cancelled an order, my question would be is this the way go about this and will a mark go against my account for a cancellation on my end shouldn't the seller cancel and refund ?. Wouldn't it be easier for the seller to just refund me , seems like he doesn't really want to pack and ship the item now even if I pay the extra shipping charges, he seems to just want to back out of the transaction.
Thanks for any help.

Do NOT request the cancellation.
Since this was the seller's mistake re: shipping costs, THE SELLER is the one to cancel. They are trying to get you to do it in order to avoid a defect from Ebay on their account.

Hi @dowamul
-Many new Sellers make mistakes on shipping until they figure out how to estimate package sizes and weights to cover the actual shipping cost of an item.
-There is no way through eBay for a Buyer to pay extra shipping after a purchase is made, it can be done outside eBay but THAT is not advisable
You have some options on how to proceed:
-Advise the Seller that you prefer that they ship the item as purchased and then wait
-Message the Seller and request a cancellation, they can then cancel using one of the three reasons allowed, that would be "Buyer requested" the cancellation.
-Whether you ask for a cancellation or the Seller cancels on you using an incorrect reason your account will NOT be affected. If the Seller cancels without being asked AND depending on the reason they select they will get a strike on their account.
-If they do not ship or cancel you only have to wait one day past the original estimated delivery date to file a claim through eBay that you did not receive the item, this will lead to an eventual refund for you.

Hi, mr_lincoln, Thanks for the help. I advised the seller to cancel on his end and please send a refund. I haven't sold on eBay for quite a few years and know things have changed as far as adding supplemental funds to pay the seller for additional shipping costs, and cancelling and receiving refunds, not being familiar with newer
eBay Commerce setup I just didn't want any issues in receiving a refund.
Thanks again for your help.
