local pick up question

So when the buyer comes to pick up the item from me. If he doesnt have that pick up code and cant show it to me so i cant enter it before he leaves with the item. Is it still ok to let him have it? Or should i not release it? thanks r

Re: local pick up question

Hi @sinkpink99

The Buyer can either let you scan their QR code (if they have that and you can scan it with your phone) or give you the 6 digit code.  Failing those two things they can still leave with the item.

If both of those fail (which happens, I can attest to that) then you use the drop-down menu on the item and select the Shipped - picked up choice.  I've done that quite a few times.

Re: local pick up question

Hi. Thanks for the reply. Yes i did see that option.  But what i was worried about was if i did that. There really isnt any proof he came and got it. I dont think.  can he just say i clicked he picked it up but he never did. And then with ebays 100% buyer satisfaction thing. He would get the item and his money back? That worries me.

What kind of an item are we talking about here?  The last thing you sold was the 1973 - 1979 VW SUPER BEETLE BUG CONVERTIBLE TOP FRAME NOT RUSTED OUT BEAUTIFULL.

In the future you can select cash at pick up if you want.  I'm not sure that particular item is a high scam item like some other things.

So im just trying to be carefull.  I guess i can always take a pic of him picking it up. LOL He will probably have the number but this is the FIRST ime for me doing it this way. So im just trying my best to protect myself. Ive been scammed before in the past. Thank you for your help. r

You can message him with a reminder about the code and that it is eBay's policy not yours.  Additionally, on a Local Pick up transaction you can message the Buyer your phone number and they can send you theirs.  eBay allows that ONLY on Local Pick up transactions.

So why do you think the Buyer wants the VW top frame?  They have a VW they need it for or they are restoring one for someone else and they need it ...
