for how long is ebay's dispute being opened if not asking ebay to step in and if seller asks to wait

as title says, basically item which i ordered haven't arrived yet, dispute already reached the "you can ask ebay to step in" date, and i can ask ebay to step in, though seller asks me to wait for a week more, i can wait for a week more however my question is when the dispute will be automatically closed in case if person keeps waiting and doesn't ask ebay to step in? basically if it will end up being closed anytime soon then i would rather ask ebay to step in than potentially losing my money by waiting & doing nothing

thanks to whoever will reply.

Re: for how long is ebay's dispute being opened if not asking ebay to step in and if seller asks to

A not received claim can be open for up to 21 business days.  If the option to ask eBay to step in just became available, I assume you opened the case less than a week ago, which means you could wait a week if you wanted to.

The question is why does he want you to wait a week?  What does the tracking show?  If the item was shipped and it is moving slowly, but you do see movement, then it would not hurt to wait a few more days.

If there is no tracking, or no movement at all on the tracking, I would tell the seller that you want your refund now.  Let him know he should refund on his own - if you have to ask eBay to step in, he will not get his fees refunded, plus it puts a bad mark on his account.

When did you buy the item, and when was the expected delivery?  I'm wondering if your seller is trying to wait out the hold on his payment before actually sending the item.  If so, I would definitely ask eBay to step in now.

Re: for how long is ebay's dispute being opened if not asking ebay to step in and if seller asks to

thanks for the quick response, i didn't knew that somebody responded here so i didn't replied, anyway, you were right as something was not right, i ended up asking ebay to step in and they gave me a full refund due to seller failing to provide correct tracking number, later i pmed the seller, told to him that i will send him the full amount through paypal in case if item will still arrive however seller didn't replied, so most likely item was not sent at all, especially since origin country is england, while i am in estonia, and order was 'shipped' at 13th september

thanks for sharing amount of days for how long not received claim ticket can be open and for advice, will be good to know for future.

all the best.
