ebay gift card scam

i know most of them, but i'm wondering how this one is a scam. if i purchase an ebay gift card and all they want is a picture of the balance on the card, how is this a scam or it simply isn't? ty

To use an Ebay gift card, you enter the redemption code from the gift card on the checkout page when processing your payment for an item you purchased ON EBAY.

There is NO legitimate reason why anyone would need a picture of your gift card.

It is a SCAM.

i'm sure you're right, but just to show someone the balance? let's just say ok there's $100 on this card. no codes, pins, 4 digits. that's a scam? how if i may?
