buyer feedback: joke, or waste of time, or benefit somehow??

I've been here before on this.  In my face-to-face store, the customer's last hearing is my thank you (for shopping here, for giving me your money, for seemingly being pleased)  and, they haven't even gone out the door.  I'm told leaving "buyer feedback" AT THE TIME OF THE SALE is useless (ebay tells "buyer" item is on it's way), "Buyers don't pay any attention", and, somehow, by me telling my "customer" how the item will be shipped AND providing the tracking number is an invasion of privacy.  I do not understand that one but respect the mentor who expressed it.  My "red letter notice" today was that "it appears that you've already left feedback for this transaction. Select another option".  We all recognize that ebay makes no mistakes, but my response to this notice is: first "BULL". and second: What??  and third: why?

Help, advice, condemnation, criticism, explanation, points where I am dead wrong....all muchly appreciated.

For instance, I just received an ebay item wrapped in an envelope the size and shape of a jumbo egg. The label was printed around and around and the PO felt the need to make a label with the twisted barcode. Delivery was six days not two. It went from CT to FL to MA.  Should I neg feedback?  A consensus please.

With the tracking number a stranger can determine the buyer's zipcode.   Feedback is not to communicate with your seller/buyer but to other potential buyers/sellers in the future (though that has been pretty useless for sellers leaving feedback for buyers since 2008).

If you want a deeper discussion post on the Buying or Selling board.  This board is for quick answers, not long discussions, especially not of multiple questions/comments.
