Recently sold an item. Had a high buy it now, however it clearly stated it was a box. Buyer clicked buy it now, paid and i shipped. about a week after delivery was confirmed, they submitted a return request stating "item didn't match description or photos" I messaged buyer three times to please explain how it did not match, and included screen shots of the listing they bought from... No response from the buyer. after the alloted time was up and after chatting with ebay rep about the situation, I asked ebay to step in and assist. Ebay then sided with the buyer, sent them a label to return the item. Nearly a week and a half later i get it back... Buyer never responded to eBay either. Case says "Awaiting buyer response". Im trying to file an appeal as I did everything i was suppose to and the buyer did not, yet i can not. and now im going to have a debit from my bank because someone did not take the time to read OR used an auto buy system (BOT) and got something other than what they wanted. A seller should not be punished or held liable for a buyer not doing due diligence, or actually taking time to read the listing or ask questions, so long as they were 100% truthful in their listing and shipped exactly what they advertised. I have a 100% feedback rating, why would i do anything but that? I took pictures of the item when it returned. Yup its EXACTLY what i shipped and listed. How does a seller get a fair shake?

You listed it in
Your buyer did not receive a graphics/video card. Refund your buyer, in full. eBay is not the place to sell empty boxes.

You should have listed it in the everything else category.

Hi @sgt_galens
It was fortunate that you listed the item in the wrong category ... as your buyers should not be held responsible for not realizing your listings were trying to trick them.
It seems apparent that you wanted buyers to be confused about exactly what they were buying ... and I'm glad at least one of the buyers requested a refund.

Maybe by giving your potential buyers a fair shake. Who starts the bidding on an empty box at $350?

So by listing something
so putting that it was a box in the title, and description and that it only included padding, I was tricking people? Please do explain how that is. As I answered MANY questions and even canceled some bids upon request...

I'm not the only person trying to sell boxes. From what could find prior to listing was that I had to offer a accurately described tangible item. Listed in wrong category, thats possible... but..

I've read tens of thousands of listings in the 15 years I've been answering questions on these Boards. It's usually easy to tell when a seller is being weaselly and when they genuinely want the buyer to know what is for sale.
You posted several examples of other listings for boxes. There were a few that said ***BOX ONLY*** or (Box Only) in the Title ... AND listed the item for a price commensurate with the cost of a box.
You did neither. It wasn't at all clear from your wording that you were selling ONLY a box.
You knew exactly what you were doing. Let it go. You're busted. 😉

I'm guessing you didn't actually READ the listing... no busted.. try again.

You walked that fine line to give yourself just enough wiggle room to claim "I said Box". Had you no intention of deceiving others you would have posted " Empty Box only, no Graphics Card".

If you were selling an empty box, why was it listed under graphics/video cards?
Who would pay that much for an empty box?

According to the Item Specifics you listed, you're selling a video card, not an empty box.

It was after reading your listings that I came up with the word 'weaselly'. The wording might save you from a getting a 'defect' ... but eBay is never going to reverse their decision.
And if you push the matter with eBay ... I think you risk being considered a scammer for selling empty boxes for $500 and then trying to box buyers in with a 'no return' policy. From some Community posts I've just read today ... members are being restricted/suspended for less. Anyway ... JMHO.

So how does it function as a graphics card??????

Just a friendly warning.. your current listing also violates ebay policy.
If it is an AS IS sale then you CAN"T list as USED............... USED means FULLY functional.
