Transaction as Buyer

Hi Group,  I made a purchase on ebay using a gift card which had enough money on it to cover the purchase.  It looks as if the entire amount was taken from the gift card as well as my bank account and paypal took a fee. Is it standard that the money is taken from your bank account as well as gift card ?

What kind of gift card was it - eBay or AMEX, VIsa, etc?

And it was attached to your PayPal account?

Review the total purchase amount again in detail - you should be able to see that in PayPal - sounds like it was more than the gift card amount, so they took the balance from your attached bank account.

It was an Ebay gift card.

The amount on the card was $200

The amount purchased was $177

The amount taken out of my account was $147

Paypal got $34

Ebay gift card balance reads $0

You will need to have someone from eBay CS go over these amounts - we can't see your account detail, and it doesn't make sense on the surface.

Best is to contact them on social media - they have an outstanding support team to resolve member issues.

Only use the PM or DM messaging - do not post publicly.\

Give them your User ID, your real name/address, the email attached to your account, the Item # in question and breakdown of the charges. They will respond via email usually in a day or two.

In addition to the previous response, there are no Paypal fees for buyers.
