Shipping from Europe to the US

I just selled a product to someone in the US. I am from Portugal. I am getting the "Your ship from address must be in the United States to purchase a label" .
Can i just go to the post myself and ship it? After that how do i confirm to Ebay that it was sent? Because it seems that because i cant choose a service to ship i cant go to the next step.

Ship your item using the postal system in Portugal.  Then enter the tracking number in the Sold transaction.  I believe there is an Other selection for the name of the carrier.
