I have many items that recently sold. Clearly the mistake is on my behalf however, I cannot afford to ship this many items when the total sold price doesn't even cover the cost of shipping each item. I need to speak to a live agent but cannot get past the AI chat.

What do you think customer service can do for you? If you are going to cancel the transactions, you must do this yourself, using the reason ‘I am out of stock’ giving yourself defects for the cancellations. Your buyers will be able to leave feedback.
You have more items in the same price range with the similar discounting and free shipping. You should edit those listings quickly before you have more transactions you will have to cancel.
