Sending Item ESE From Different Category

Good Afternoon,

I sold a small USB to USB-C adapter for $4.99. I listed it as free shipping with ESE. The item is within the parameters. It's .25" thick and the package is the size of a sports card. since the item was listed under cables and connectors, it's outside of the acceptable categories. It's under .5 oz when placed in a standard envelope. I'd rather not pay $4.19 out of my pocket on the item as I end up losing money on the sale. Can I put a stamp on the thing and mark it shipped and just mail it? Or do I just chalk this one up to experience and eat it? I'm not here to do things for free, granted is was an oversight on my part. I only looked at dimensions when I listed the adapter and figured I could offer ESE shipping for free and sell it easier. I've never shipped anything with a regular postage stamp, but I have received plenty of sports cards with forever stamps on them.  Since the item has been purchased I can't change the category and I wouldn't do that anyhow. I'm not trying to be shady, I'm just curious how this would work. The buyer selected ESE, so there would technically be no tracking anyhow, since we all know how much fun it is to find something with an ESUS number that's lost in the cosmos. Just curious if anybody has done this and if I'll get in hot water for doing it. Also, why would eBay let me put ESE as a shipping option if it was under the wrong category? Shouldn't that option have been eliminated by the time I got to the shipping portion of the listing? Thanks a bunch for any info! -M-

@filemart.  You can ship with just a postage stamp and mark it as shipped.

If a buyer files a not received refund request you'll have to issue a refund without tracking to show delivery.

Since it's a low price item your best option is a postage stamp.

Thank you for the response. That's how I looked at as well. If I have to refund, it's the same as paying for Ground Advantage. It's only a couple bucks so I figured I may as well roll the dice. Appreciate the insight!
