Hello all,
I sold a sealed "health" powder canister to a customer. The customer opened it, tried it, and "didn't like the taste". Do I have to issue a refund? I do offer free returns, but from what I read, eBay only requires me to refund the customer if I get it back the same way I shipped it.
The Item was not damaged in shipment. The customer said in comments "I didn't like the way it tasted." Do I have a leg to stand on if I fight this? It's only $40 dollars plush shipping, but to me it's the principle.
I just can't stand the fact that this customer just cost me $40 because they purchased a powder they didn't think tasted good.
Help please. I'm top rated and always do returns without hesitation, but this situation is not right.
It is what it is.
Thanks for your help.

According to your listing:
"30 days returns | Seller pays for return shipping"

Since you did list with returns, you have to let the buyer return it. But - when you go to issue the refund you will be able to withhold 50% of the refund due to the difference in return condition.
I would list food products as no returns - then you could decline a return like this.

Thank you. This is what I plan on doing. Hopefully I don't get dinged by ebay.
