I've been a top seller plus for quite a while now. My products are mostly not high profit margin and I have had only 1 return this whole time I think, but things have started to change and I'm feeling like people are getting less reliable.
I got a nasty neutral review about packaging (item was not damaged and they had purchased before and been happy with the same item), someone inquired about an item saying that she would try it and return it (at my cost) if it didn't work for her (this is a product that can help with weight control but she told me in her message that she had tried everything and nothing had worked so I told her Ebay would consider that to be abuse of the system so she ended up not buying), and now yesterday I got a return request of a roller bottle of perfume for "changed mind" reason.
I just turned off my free returns b/c I feel like people are starting to abuse me and I can't afford these losses but for this one, I am guessing that the person likely used the roller bottle.
What can I do about this if anything?
It's possible they just smelled it but I'm guessing not and that they are counting on ebay siding w/ buyers and me not being able to prove use.
This is not an easy product to sell and well, just hoping there's a way to address this even though it's a long shot but I am thinking that since this is a product you would apply to your skin that maybe Ebay will agree that this is now likely unsanitary and that the person used it and decided to ship it back anyhow? Or am I just stuck b/c Ebay usually sides w/ the buyer? Should I try reaching out to ebay or just take the loss? Thanks for your help in advance.
