Photographs of nude females

Can someone please explain to me why there are literally thousands of photos of nude women on eBay (complete full nudity) and, yet, selling a vintage "girlie" magazine (with absolutely no nudity) from the 1950s can get you banned.

The other day I posted an old erotic metal sign of a girl (not nude), and I got a message from eBay saying that if I attempt to list the item again, that my account will be suspended.

It seems completely hypocritical that a photo of a completely nude woman is allowed to be listed in the "art" category and doesn't need to be included in the "erotic" category. I am not a prude but why are some sellers given preferential treatment when it comes to this and others (like me) get threatened with punishment?

According to Ebay:

Nude art listings that do not contain sexually suggestive poses or sexual acts are allowed, but they must include the item specific attribute Subject: Nudes. They can be listed only in the following categories:

  • Art categories
  • Collectibles > Paper > Pin Up > Vintage (Pre-1970)
  • Collectibles > Postcards > Non-Topographical Postcards
  • Collectibles > Photographic Images > Photographs

For the full policy regarding adult items (i.e. nudity), go here > https://www.ebay.com/help/policies/prohibited-restricted-items/adult-items-policy?id=4278#section1

Re: Photographs of nude females

Oh, yes. I have read that, but have you actually seen what I am referring to? None of these photos are "vintage." None of these photos are "postcards". None of these "photos" are actual "Photographs" but they were made from a home inkjet printer, so to be available for sale in the "Photographs" category seems a stretch. The images themselves are graphic in such a way that you wouldn't want children to have access to them...yet eBay sellers make thousands of these images available for viewing to anyone of any age. As I wrote in my original post, I am not a prude, but I am extremely curious why full female nudity (including genitals) are allowed for purchase by some sellers and not others. There seems to be some imbalance. I guarantee, that if I listed any of the photos that I am referring to, that I would be banned even if I did list them in the "correct" category.
