My eBay account is restricted due to allegedly being associated with a fraudulent account, but I haven't engaged in any criminal activities. I have never had any interaction with the named account. When I called Customer Service and I explained the issue, they told me I was perpetually banned from eBay.
Apparently, eBay uses some type of technology that is able to infallibly tell you whether someone has committed fraud on their platform. This must surely be compensating for the lack of cybersecurity measures. The fact that I am getting reprimanded for the work of hackers is unbeliveable. I am a victim of hacking and poor cybersecurity protocols. What is even more surprising is that upon asking the agent if she could provide
provide evidence of the association, she told me she couldn't due to 'data privacy laws.' Crazy these laws are protecting hackers...
Then there are those messages about how to reinstate your account that don't lead anywhere. I spoke to another customer rep and I explained to her the issue and she told me she would submit 'an appeal.' Maybe she just told me that to get me off the phone.
How can I get my account back? eBay, I need some answers!!

If your account has been permanently suspended, there is nothing you can do.
Ebay will suspend accounts associated with another suspended account...such as a family member or friend that was suspended from Ebay who used your computer/home network that you use to log in to Ebay.

It may not be a hacker, but the fact someone used your computer or ISP location with a bad account. Or you were visiting someone, business, or location where a bad account is connected when you accessed yours. Once your locations are associated, so are your accounts.
It generally is impossible to get clear of this until the bad account is rectified, and even then can be difficult.
Try to remember if anyone lately has visited, or that you accessed your account somewhere else that could have caused this.

Thanks for your response. So you're saying if the same network was used, my account is then suspended forever even though it was not me? Seems unfair... I've moved around during covid and have stayed at hotels, shared apartments, etc. so if this is the policy I could see how this may have happened. Regardless, it wasn't me and it's a shame I'm banned for life for not doing anything.

Yes, that probably is what happened then, and it is almost impossible to fix without the other account getting in good standing with ebay.
Best you can do is ask further, perhaps with a detailed explanation of you moving around.

This is a very helpful answer. It could have happened anywhere as I've been working from different places since the pandemic...Guess I'll just have to sell on another platform.
Thanks.
