How to create a second account

Greetings eBay community. I have recently expanded my selling portfolio to include sports cards and would like to create a second account to differentiate the products from my original account. Can anyone please provide a link or “how-to” instructions on how I can effectively do this. Also I would like to know how I can move the existing listings from my original account to the new one. Thanks for your help and time.

Re: How to create a second account

For a separate account, you would need to register a new account with a different email address, and the rest of the information can be the same.  Just make sure that the 2 accounts never transact with each other.

How many items in the current account do you want in your new account?

Re: How to create a second account

Give or take I have around 100 listings that I want to move over. I am a little apprehensive as I have been reading that some users have had their accounts closed when attempting to open a second account.

You will need a new email address for your second account, but you can use the same banking info.

Go to the eBay signin page and click the option to "create an account" instead of signing in. Select Personal or Business, enter your name and email, and select a password. I have not explored beyond this step. You should be able to then select a username. If eBay generates a generic username, you can change right away within your account settings.

The next step is to set up a selling account. To do so, start a listing on that new account. When you try to publish the listing, you will be redirected to the Managed Payments onboard screen where you can fill in all the tax id information for your account, and where you will subsequently be led through linking your checking account.

Moving your listings is not a simple task. You may want to open each old listing and sell similar from your new account, although that won't transfer everything you want.

Alternatively you could download a spreadsheet of active listings and use that to populate a new spreadsheet for upload to your new account using Seller Hub > Reports > Uploads.

Re: How to create a second account

Thank you. Have you successfully downloaded a csv report and repopulated into a separate account?

Re: How to create a second account

Downloading the reports is straightforward, but they do not contain enough information to create new listings. There are some details that you would need to bring in from other sources or that you would need to recreate, such as listing descriptions, photos, shipping policies, and possibly item specifics.

Then you would download a category template for new sports cards listings, populate that template with the details from the other sources, and upload to eBay to create new listings on your new account.

As mentioned before, this is not a simple task, but it's doable.

It would be easiest to move the trading cards to the new account.

I just finished downloading four CSV reports for your 169 items in category 212 (sports trading cards) using four external tools:

I was going to suggest that you download a template from Seller Hub > Reports > Downloads for your active listings, but I don't think we need that. We can figure out how to merge those four spreadsheets into an upload with what I've already got. Do you use SKUs (Custom Labels) on your cards?

Do you know how to use and edit a spreadsheet?
