How can the Post Office track an order with Ebay tracking numbers?

I have had several orders that have not arrived at the buyers address and ebay tracking shows them stuck in transit. How do i recover the items or make a claim ?

File a "Missing Mail Piece" with USPS, that may shake the package loose for you.  That has worked for me on occasion.

The Post Office claims they cannot use the Ebay tracking number so what good is that tracking number?

Okay, if you are using the eBay Standard Envelope you should have mentioned that in your original post.  The tracking for that is NOT a bar code that local post offices can scan or use because it is "Metered Mail" using their Intelligent Mail barcode (which replaced the older Postal Net bar code).  Only mail sorting machines that scan that code can read it.  The last scan the mail piece gets is the sorting machine at the bulk center one location prior to the Buyer's Post Office.  It is NOT a door to door tracking system.
