GSP advice re a nightmare buyer

I sold an item from the UK to the United states recently and it has arrived broken. I fully accept this. Buyer asked for a refund I pointed out it was sent via the GSP and I thought he would be covered. Cue a lot of horrible messages, the first one being some 1800 words long calling me mentally challenged 'don't give up your chimney sweep day job' saying I rip off buyers, I am a weasel etc etc.

He has left me my first ever negative feedback in 15 years and (as I advised him) opened a case.

eBay have refused to remove the feedback (which is well over the top) and don't seem to care about the messages.

Am I correct in thinking that since it reached the GSP and was forwarded to US that I am covered or can eBay make exceptions? It's my first ever breakage I think and a lot of my feedbacks compliment me on my packaging.

I am registered as a business but at 78 year old it's just a part time thing really to give me something valid to do, I was enjoying it till now.

I am awaiting eBay to step in in four days. Any advice on what I should be doing would be much appreciated.

Thanks
