FEEDBACK

As a buyer …. I will NO longer leave feedback to a seller  BEFORE I receive POSITIVE feedback … as a buyer when I purchase I immediately pay for my purchase …IMMEDIATELY… I have left too many positive feedbacks to worthless SELLERS that really should not received it … … if a buyer makes a purchase and immediately pays for the purchase, positive feedback should be left before the item is received to the buyer by the SELLER .. EBAY maybe you should read this and react ….. make some changes !!

I disagree, and I am a buyer.

Merely paying for an item as required does not earn feedback.

A buyer can show their true colors after they receive the item. Once the seller knows that the buyer has received the item and are satisfied, THEN a seller should leave feedback. JMHO

By the way, leaving feedback is voluntary, not mandatory....for both buyers and sellers.

as a seller, i immediately leave feedback upon cleared payment from buyer, but that doesn't necessarily mean it is deserved. some buyers, not most, scam sellers, so many sellers won't leave feedback until the buyer indicates they are happy with their purchase.

as a buyer, i use to leave positive feedback if i was happy with the purchase, but many times, as u say, the seller did not reciprocate by leaving me feedback, so I too stopped unless they leave it for me.

you would think sellers would want to leave feedback for their buyers if that buyer left them great feedback, but i've found that to not always be the case.

FEEDBACK

Hi @carson5911

Leaving feedback is optional.  People are free to leave it whenever they want … or not leave it at all.

What if a seller left positive feedback as soon as the buyer paid … and the buyer returns an empty box for a full refund?

If you check a seller’s complete feedback profile … you should be able to purchase items only from sellers who leave feedback the way you think they should.

A seller is actually “worthless” if they don’t say something nice about the transaction?

Buyers can only receive positive feedback so many sellers see no point.

Not all sellers have a positive experience with a buyer.

What do you hope to accomplish with 584 that you can’t do with 583?

Lots of sellers feel exactly the same, and refuse to leave feedback first as well; I guess neither party will receive feedback if you are involved in a transaction, as both buyer and seller will be waiting for the other to blink first.

If your goal is to minimize the amount of positive feedback you have found the right tactic to accomplish that.

That's your choice. Leaving feedback is voluntary. No one has to leave it, but when they do, it's up to them to leave it when they wish to do so any time within 60 days of the transaction date. Buyers don't get to dictate when a seller leaves feedback (if the seller chooses to leave it at all).

Since sellers can only leave buyers positive feedback, they won't leave it at all if there was something that wasn't positive in dealing with you. Some sellers don't leave it for any buyers because it's meaningless - it can only be positive.

All of this having been said, most sellers leave feedback for their buyers. Only about 50% of buyers leave it for their sellers You've received feedback from 95% of your sellers, so I don't know why this is an issue for you as it is not something you are not entitled to it.

FEEDBACK

Hi @carson5911

Feedback on eBay is optional for both parties.  While I understand your point I have one question, do you think a system is fair that lets one side leave Positive, Neutral or Negative Feedback while the other side can ONLY leave Positive?

FEEDBACK

IF a BUYER purchases an item and pays immediately , why does that not deserve a positive feedback .....from what i read , a person purchases an item then the seller has  to wait on the buyer to pay , and sometimes never does pay ...you would think the seller would appreciate someone that pays immediately and leave feedback.......LIKE I SAID , to whom ever their own ........I WILL NOT POST FEEDBACK UNTIL I RECEIVE IT FIRST.

Because feedback is voluntary and no one deserves more feedback other than that which is willingly provided.

FEEDBACK

Why do buyers think they should get positive feedback just because they paid, like they are supposed to do when they buy something?

I don't leave feedback until the transaction is complete, that means the buyer has received their item and they are satisfied with it, then the transaction is complete and feedback is given.

To many sellers have got burned giving positive feedback as soon the buyer pays.

Have A Great Day.

@carson5911   "look in to it" ??? ... I'm thinking more along the lines of replacing it to be honest.  The answer of course was no, the system is not fair.  In addition to that below are just a few links to eBay Help Pages dedicated to the different aspects of the Feedback system.  I think any system requiring that much verbiage is lacking something.  However, one thing is missing and that is encouraging "Trading Partners" (eBay's term for a Buyer and Seller on a transaction) to avoid playing the Feedback game meaning I won't leave it for you until you leave it for me ... if both parties have that attitude Feedback never happens ...

Leaving feedback for sellers | eBay

Replying to feedback you received for an item you sold | eBay

Feedback manipulation policy | eBay

In closing, for myself as a Seller I leave FB for Buyers the day the items ship.  I used to leave it while the label was printing out but then eBay changed the Feedback flow from the print label page where they no longer retained my pre-typed Feedback ... instead they offered some "canned" statements, none of which I would ever type myself OR the option to type it out again, every .... single .... time ....

As a Buyer, I leave FB after I open and inspect the item.  If there are any issues I message the Seller and work things out before leaving FB ... and once things are worked out I leave Positive FB because that's what working things out means ...
