EBay chat advising me to change my name also I cant varify my card to pay fee's but had it two years

Hello all.

 

This is a multi problem issue for me and I wondered if someone can direct me to sort this out as my account has restrictions now on it due to ebays fault and there doesn't seem like anyone is listening there.

 

A month or so ago I had an email stating I owed fee's of just over £8, I went to pay for them and even thou I've used the same card for over two years the website told me time and time again "We cant varify your card", its a direct debt car and its well in date, I have used the card many times to pay for fees and items or to get payments of items I've sold, I tried to pay it again, again and again, I even ignored the prompting of the site for my card sets and input them in manually "Still no good", so I asked my wife to take over and she had the exact same, so whilst my wife was with my on the PC I used Ebays chat and spoke to some chap who wasn't english, he kind of knew what I was contacting ebay for and he suggested I remove the card from  my account and try again, "Good Idea I said" so I did that and then started the procedure off again and the site STILL couldn't verify my card? after almost an hour of chat I was fedup and at this stage was close to just shutting my account down if it were possible, then the guy suggested that as my card had my middle name as an initial for example "Joe J BLogs" he advised me to contact my bank and get them to send me a new card but without my middle name??
I am not sure if that's even legal? but I cant see how it would help, the conversation went dry and I felt he wasn't interested in sorting it out in the end, I did get a manuscript sent to me.

Can any one suggest what to do because Ebay don't have an email, I wont any longer use the chat and facebook or whoever runs it wont reply to my messages... thanks in advance.

@enigmaticscience   That sounds very frustrating!   First of all what you need to do is log out of eBay.com the US site.  Clear your browser history and return to eBay.co.uk  the UK site.

 

As for the card issue.  The name and address for the card needs to match the registered name and address on your eBay account.    It's much easier to update your registration address on your eBay account to make sure it matches the checking account exactly.

All that said.  I have had members here in the US have trouble adding a debit card to their account and ended up adding a credit card instead.   Which personally I feel is the safer option since it's not linked to my checking account.

On a computer go to your Seller Hub Overview page and click on SUMMARY

Next scroll ALL the way down to the lower right corner and click on the ? mark.   Then you will see a pop up and a button that says " Have us call you"
