The last two auctions I won, the payment was processed automatically.  Usually, I can choose which payment method/credit card I want to use.  Why did that happen?

Ebay has implemented the "Automatic payments" in order to reduce the number of non-paying buyers.

If the seller has their buyer requirements set to "Require buyers to provide a payment method before they place a bid/offer" you would have seen this message on the "place bid" screen:

"By selecting Place bid, you authorize eBay to bid up to your max bid and, if you win, charge your bid amount and related costs to your     account."
