Anyone else worried about using Ebay due to Fraudulent sellers?

Anonymous

I recently purchased a wood burner blower from greateasternshoppinghub, though they likely have more than one store on ebay. They appear to be out of India. Anyway, I have reported that this seller used a fraudulent tracking number, claimed my 14.2 pound blower was delivered in my mailbox, and will not return my money. I went to the Post Master who wrote a letter stating just that- tracking number fraudulent, Item never delivered, and yet Ebay and Paypal refuse to refund my money or go after what is  a fraudulent seller. I know many people have issues like this, at least the Post Master stated so to me, but this is the first instance in 22 yrs of being an ebay buyer and seller, that they not supported me. I sent proof. I have many messages to the seller, and ebay. It seems once they see that ANY tracking number shows delivered, they make out that I am trying to get something for nothing. Not so. I am trying to keep ebay a safe place to shop for myself as well as others. If  anyone else has had dealings with a store like this one, let me know how/if you solved it. Ebay shouldn't be known as buyer beware.

The bots see that tracking states DELIVERED so you will automatically lose an Item Not Received case.

Take the tracking down to the carrier and have them check their GPS coordinates to see exactly where the package was delivered. Then you upload a copy of that letterhead into an appeal, to get your money back. If not to your address, the carrier should try and retrieve the package.

Thank you for the reply. I have a letter from the Post Master, and they turned down my claim and my appeal. Same with PayPal. I am beyond disgusted with both. Guarantee my transactions? I don't think so. This seller wants me to close my case and then he will take care of me. When I ask for specifics, nothing in writing. It's insulting how fast these bots, if that's what it is, can respond. I know that no one read a word of my claim or they wouldn't have replied with the same inane suggestions. I have been buying and selling on eBay for 22 yrs. They won't see me back after this transaction gets settled one way or another. Done venting. Thanks for your help.

Re: Anyone else worried about using Ebay due to Fraudulent sellers?

Once you start a claim via PayPal or your payment provider, the case is taken out of eBay's hands and eBay can no longer help you.

Had you not started a PayPal claim, here is what you could have tried on eBay:

If tracking shows delivery, but nothing arrives, contact the shipping service to determine if the tracking corresponds to a delivery to your address.

If you can obtain hard copy documentation of that the tracking does not correspond to a delivery to your address, contact eBay via social media and explain that you have a case of "false tracking" and you should be given the opportunity to provide your documentation to eBay via direct message. This is different than the usual "item not received" case which is handled automatically and which allows the seller to win by providing tracking that shows delivery.

You can avoid many issues entirely by choosing to only do business with experienced sellers that have a proven track record of delivering similar items as seen by examining the seller's feedback page, and by avoiding inexperienced sellers, sellers with patterns of negative feedback indicating serious problems, or sellers with large gaps in the selling history or recent drastic changes of seller behavior.
