Identification of antique hammer head

Found many years ago while hiking about the mountains above a Nevada ghost town, is this iron hammer head.  While one end is conventional, the other end is concave.  I have no idea as to the purpose of such an unusal hammer except that I suspect it was used in logging as an old iron sledge hammer head was also found in the area where lumbering for the mines had taken place.  The concave hammer head weighs about three pounds and is inscribed with what may be the company name "RWCOF with the last semi-legible letter either another F or perhaps an E and what appears to be the last letter which is too far worn to make out.  If you have any idea as to the specific purpose or use of this hammer, or other general information about it, I would certainly like to know as I've been unable to fine anything comparable in an internet search.  I did send an inquiry to the Hammer Museum in Haines, Alaska but never received  a response.

Thanks for taking the time to read my posting.
