What it this?

Can anyone help me identify this antique wooden thingamabob? I know it belonged to my great grandmother (born in 1878) but I have no idea what it is or how old it is. Thanks!

I believe it's a pestle for grinding spices and herbs. Look around for a wooden bowl that it fits in and that would be the mortar

A potato masher(?)...I have a similar wooden implement that someone kindly id'd 20 or so years ago...
