What Kind Of Pottery Is This?

Hello,

I found a really nice lot of early American pottery.  This jug came with it.  I am having a hard time finding anything like it.  Can anyone give me guesses as to age, region, pottery type, etc...

I truely appreciate any and all help you can give me.  Thank you!IMG_6314.JPGIMG_6314.JPG

Pitcher actually. Goggle Redware. Adding iron to the clay, then as it's fired turns it the reddish color.

Thank you!  Is it redware even if the pottery itself is not red?

Any idea what the stamped marks are? I cant make them out. You could Google American pottery marks, or American redware marks, might just come up with something 🙂

You really should post this on the pottery board.  They have people with tremendous knowledge there.

I am not an expert so I always hesitate to give any guidance.  However, you are not getting any answers about your pitcher and it is a nice one.  I would look at stoneware pitchers, yellow ware (not redware) pitchers, look under crock pitchers, and even salt glazed to see if you can find a similar one.   You probably will not find a specific maker but you could find enough key words to list this and the right buyer will see it.

Red pic just for learning, I did a picture search and saw several similar with the ribbing and colours. What makes it 19th C, and who could decipher the marks?

thanks!
