stupid question?

HI I am still new to the world of ACEO's as Jillian knows but I was wondering about something. I did a full size watercolor winter scene. Is it acceptable to scan it and then resize it to ACEO size on my computer. If so, what listing would it be considered since it was originally watercolor freehand art? Thanks Carol

It would be an ACEO print since it's a reproduction of your original work. You can make it a limited edition (often abbreviated LE) which means you will only print "x" number of them. Or an open editon (OE) which means there's no limit to the number you might print. You can charge a bit more for LE since there will be a limited number. Whether it's LE or OE, sign or initial each print on the front. In your listing you'd specify that it's a signed print of your original watercolor. For LE, you'd print say, a total of 25 (that number's up to you) and each print would be numbered - i.e. 1/25, 2/25 etc. I hand-write the number, name of the art, my signature & my web site on the back of my prints. I also include a printed COA (certificate of authenticity) that has pretty much the same info. COA's aren't necessary, but many of us provide them and some collectors want them. -- -Ann "Animals are such agreeable friends, they ask no questions, they pass no criticisms." -- George Eliot -- Edited by drawdog5 at 12/12/2007 9:29 PM

Agree. Also, if you happened to do a print, then paint or add ink pen, glitter or other embellishments, and each one is different then they become an 'original embellished print', rather than LE or OE, no matter how many you embellish, each is an 'original'. This is quite fun sometimes. :) -- ~Jillian artist, Jillian Crider ... google works for ME! -- Edited by artistjillian at 12/15/2007 8:13 AM
