eBay responds to delay issues

This was the response I received regarding long delays in listings appearing: "Dear Kathleen, Thank you for writing eBay in regard to listing items on eBay. "Please accept my apologies for the delay in responding to your email. I understand your concern over the delay in your listings appearing in the category and search results. Please understand that your listing period starts from the time that you submit your listing on eBay. However, your item may not come up in your searches, because our system may still indexing it for inclusion in the Search database. We run several indexing cycles for Search on a daily basis. However, it can take several hours to fully index the information that we receive, because our Search system tracks a lot of information for every listing on eBay. The listing information includes titles, descriptions, the auction start and end times, the seller, the bidders, and the bids. If you revise your listing shortly after submitting it, it may take even more time to index the information. It is my pleasure to assist you. Thank you for choosing eBay. "

I use Turbo Lister - I checked about 15 minutes after I had listed 3 ACEOs and they all showed up when I tried keyword searches. Sue

I'm mainly concerned with 'newly listed'. But that's great Sue. ms*p, could be I didn't know about this 'back then' and how buyers look at 'newly listed'.

It seems Ebay is run by robots, they send the same message to everybody,no matter what the complain is.It basically means "it is what it is". Why do they even bother sending surveys when they don't do anything about it, anyway? We know they don't care. I'm using the old form and still experience 3-4 hour delays. Danielle

Wow! Grand revelations! Auto Bot ebay! Pay for doing nothing! Auto Bot world! Well they cannot have Real Coffee! Coffee Time! My Coffee Pot just finished cooking my coffee and has buzzed me to come and get IT! Already in the Cup! Only Auto Bot to have is one that works and produces results. ((( circle of Coffee Hugs )))

The delay is bad enough but to start the clock ticking before customers can actually see the item is criminal.

I'm mainly concerned with the "newly listed" page too. I collect as well as sell, and that's where I look when I'm shopping. With thousands of ACEOs listed, I don't have time to go through every page, so if it doesn't show up on the newly listed page, I'm not likely to see it. And since I don't collect one particular subject, I don't run keyword searches. I'll also periodically check "ending soonest," to see if there are any cards without bids. That's where I look for bargains, which probably explains why my sales have gone the way they have. No more watchers at the the start, but a single bid in the final minute (if I'm lucky). Kathy

Hi all and Happy Easter! I listed one last night - UK night that is 🙂 was probably about 2.30 p.m. in the US. I used the new form, no scheduling and it came up almost immediately...... maybe they are beginning to get their act together, or maybe it`s because it`s Easter and there aren`t so many people listing this week-end? Some items show up in search 'newly listed' almost immediately, but many others are taking hours or days! Some folks use the old SYI form, or Turbo Lister, or Scheduled Listing, and the listing shows up in search right away, sometimes not. It seems that no matter what we try, maybe it'll work and maybe it won't. I have a few cards I'd like to re-list. Maybe I will....or MAYBE I WON'T!!

I just listed something using the new form and it came up immediately! I also made a revision to another item, and the change appeared immediately. However, ebay being ebay, I don't believe that the problem is fixed. I think that things might be slow this morning because of Easter. I'd like to be optimistic, but, we'll see how things are later . . . Kathy ~ poozybear ~ artbykathy

Yes, they say May they will be getting rid of it. But then they say stuff and then not follow through sometimes. Not good at all ...

I've seen the term "turbo lister" but am unfamiliar with it. Is it a paid service? Is it part of eBay? By the way, as I pointed out in another thread, when I list in categories other than SFA, the auction seems to appear much more quickly.
