Postal Issues???

Have any of you ever had your packages 'rerouted' by the Post Office? I checked on some that I sent out last week and got this notice from the tracking department: 'Your item has been rerouted due to an error within our system. We are working to fix this problem as soon as possible.' So what does that mean? The truck delived packages to the wrong homes? It broke down? went the wrong way? hijacked? I've never had that happen before, but it doesn't sound good. I've emailed a lot of my buyers from last week and asked if they had received their cards because I hadn't heard any fb from them. I'm starting to think ebay runs the post office too!!! or vica versa. skyM

the only issues I have had were my own fault. I had forgotten that to use delivery confirmation, the envelope MUST be 3/4" thick! A forgiving buyer reminded me of that after she got charged postage due (ouch)...yes, I did make it up to her... Rose

Postal Issues???

Yes, all delivery services as some point in time have to rerout their packages- meaning your parcels being sent out. It is unfornate, But reroutes can occur for numerous reasons. Since this was internal, I would automatically rule out a misdelivered package - delivered to wrong address. Reroutes occur, when mail on a plane has to be diverted do to weather. Reroutes occur, when mail on a truck or motor vehicle has to go around a fire, a motor accident, Flash flooding, the terminal it is going to is closed for power outages, renovations, etc. Now that the post office is tracking nearly all mail by barcodes and if you purchased the online tracking, you find out more about your packages than you have ever known before. I am assuming all your shipments are fine. For Shippers: Always try and make sure you have the correct Recipients address. Recipients, if you have to- Write down and stick your address to your computer -!. Think I am being funny, obnoxious, tickling bones you do not like to confront? Well, I trace packages all day long! This is a true incident. A highly educated man ordered a phone from Verison. Well, Verison has orders with most shippers that the packages must deliver to the address on the package. If the Address is incorrect, the package must be returned to Verison. NO EXCEPTIONS TO THE RULE! This highly educated man called in very upset! He gave Verison his old Address. - Moral of the story - This man had not lived at the Address on the Verison package in over ten years!!! No joke! He got Verison on His other phone screaming to have the Address Changed. The agent for Verison explained it had to be returned. Of course Verison agent immediately calmed Him with offers of a special delivery from one of their local stores. Yes, we all need to know our Home address! Another funny thing about Recipients: When having packages shipped to you -- Please check All the doors to your house for your deliverys. Yes, I get people calling in everyday - complaining that the courier or post man delivered to the wrong door. Mind you, I am not talking about a house that has more than one family. Yes, some people have two mailboxes, and the poor postman has delivered mail to the wrong door. But only one family in the house. Strange! ((( Circle of Hugs )))

Postal Issues???

I once had the post man stick a package in an empty planter on the front porch. This planter was about 3 feet high. When I contacted the post office they kept saying it was delivered, etc. Finally they got a msg to the post man & he told them he stuck it in the planter so no one would see it (including me I guess!) and steal it. I would never have thought to look there. Sue

Postal Issues???

oh my heaven's! All those are just dreaded events! I'm so thrilled you got yours aliceray 🙂 I worry so much over sending things to the UK, my post office always tells me, "there's no way to track things going overseas", but I always ask every time. I hope you enjoy that music lol it's one of my favorites to paint to. (Irish of course, Mccready household lol) I use that tracking like it's sacred heehee OCD will do that to a body. I sent a care box to mousewords and the first time it returned back to me, it looked like that ape from the old Sampsonite commercials had gotten to it, I repackaged it and sent it out again. My postal service returned it with holes drilled in it and a notice stating that my package had been seized along with 1500 others at random for an emergency drug investigation. Holy crap! That must have been some potent potpourri I sent! lol I repackaged it again and sent it via UPS, don't you know she STILL hasn't received it to this day! I ended up sending her another one. Someone, somewhere is enjoying it. :) Thanks for all the helpful comments 🙂 I'm starting to get emails from some of the buyers I alerted to this issue and they're telling me they've just now received their parcels. I worry, I worry skyM

Yes: one pair of shoes ordered, listed as "notice left" (not) "Left at post office for pickup" (no) and went back to sender and THEy had to pay to get it back. They were not pleased (patient seller, bless him.) Sent first class pkg to St. Louis from Delaware; 6 days en route. This is slow.

Postal Issues???

I sold a watch back in January to a guy in Brazil. A few weeks ago he emailed me and asked for a refund because the item never showed up. I begged him to give it a few more weeks, because I was pretty sure that it was hung up in customs. Thank goodness he was patient and agreed to wait. He left me feedback three days ago saying that the package arrived. That package took 2-1/2 months to get there. So much for "air" mail. I think they're lying to us and still using pony express.

Oh! the shipping industry stories never end. My lost of quilts through ebay insisting on shipping to my old address. Was never going to ebay again and I found little cards. I thought they were a joke. Well, I found a package stuck on -i beam above my head on the sorting line- yeah just sent it on its way. The Post Woman in this area is notorious for grabbing Her bag out of the truck to start Her deliverys. When she is on - You find mail on the ground and trying to get Her to take it and deliver, is well and experience. ((( Circle of Stamp Hugs )))
