Synchronicity or is there more to it? :-O

It's really bizarre how something obscure will come up in conversation like for example a "purple octopus". Suddenly in the space of a week or two you will see a cartoon of a purple octopus, somebody will have a purple octopus backpack, and there will be a reference to a purple octopus in a movie or the news? Coincidence? Synchronicity? It's happened so many times it's downright spooky. And now it's happening on Ebay. I think to myself I will do an ACEO or art of something and I'll find that there are several of the same subject already out there - even if it's an obscure subject. It's just bizarre. I haven't listed much lately because I've been working on keeping the thoughts from getting out. I'm constructing an aluminum foil cap because it's known to keep aliens from reading your thoughts. Will it work against the mind reading powers of fellow Ebayers? *spooky Twilight zone music*

Yes tinfoil caps are definitely the way to go. And don't forget to unplug everything at night when you go to bed, that's the other way 'they' have of reading your mind... ;)

I have funny things happen to me. Even yesterday was one of these funny things. I NEVER wear any clothing indicating I'm Australian. But yesterday I had to go teach 2nd graders about Australia, so I MADE an Australian shirt, with the word, Australia on it, and some koalas. On my way home I stopped in to local rubber stamp shop. Marietta, Georgia. I had to wait as the owner was talking to ONE other woman. A magazine caught my eye. It was a new one I hadn't seen before. The store owner started getting a bit distracted and a bit disbelieving. I had not seen that the woman he was serving (her back was to me) had on a t-shirt with 'Australia', and a koala on it. He commented on the slim odds of that happening. Then I also showed him the magazine I was reading. It was a new one I hadn't seen before on AUSTRALIAN paper crafts and had a koala on it. Things get freaky with me this way. Someone told me that when things like this happens it means you're in the right place, going in the right direction. Interesting. Can I borrow your tinfoil hat?

Yep, Jillian, Fran~ That's exactly what I was about to type that I've read (about going in the right direction; on the right track, etc)...getting excited and ahead of myself before finishing your post, Jillian! LOL :-)...and it happens to me ALL the time...so much that I'm used to it, unless it's a really weird one...(stuff in current events or vogue doesn't count!:-) )....like last week, I know this sounds silly, but since it happens to you all, too....I made the remark to my son that I was going to do something "by hook or by crook"...and he laughed; he had never heard that...and, I'll swear, I heard/read references to that phrase 3 different times in the next couple of days....(by the third one you go "Whoa!!"...and then I was thinking about the weirdness of it all, and walked into the living room just when the "Captain Hook" scene in "Neverland" was playing....Goosebumps! Glad it happens to others! Oh~ does this happen to you?...Ever read a word - in a book, newpaper, whatever - at the EXACT time you're hearing someone say it - TV, radio, etc.?...Strange sensation, too! Anne >^..^<

Oh~ Fran~ that happens to me, too, with ACEO's - especially with another artist that I really admire and I would DIE if she thought I was copying her work~ but with others, too - I mean, it's usually animals that I paint, and I tell myself that there are ONLY so many species....but, shoot~ I think about painting puffins or oragutangs or, or...angelfish and then dang it, there they ARE! >^..^<

Happens to me! I was thinking I was maybe sending out some sort of brain waves! There's this one artist on Ebay and she was freaking me out. I would sit here for days thinking of a 'new' idea to paint on gourds or wood....waalaa a thought struck me! Within a week I would see she had the exact idea and painted it....I think she also had more time to paint then me thats why she beat me all the time! And like evensong was always afraid she would think I was copying her. Maybe thoughts travel like radio waves? Lynda

Julia Cameron covers this subject in her book 'The Artist's Way'. I think it's cool that synchronicity occurs so often. Look at Hollywood and how they will so often be making a similar movie at nearly the same time.

Happened to me last week. I did an ACEO of one of my little girls with a cat on her head. Was browsing ACEOs here on e-bay a few days later, and lo and behold, an ACEO of a girl with a cat on her head. I haven't listed mine because I don't want anyone to think I'm copycatting. And there was something else, but I have just forgotten. KJ

LOL Cici has been painting them for weeks. Cat hats I think. Back in 1996 I painted a portrait with my family in it and my white cat was on my head. I painted my cat out though 😞
