Re: Web Site creation on Tripod-

Jillian- I am trying to create a web page on Tripod. So far, I got the EASY part, but can't seem to get the STUPID one. LOL For some reason it won't let me upload my pictures. My pictures are all jpeg files. Do you happen to know why I'm getting an error message that tells me to change my file name because they have to be jpeg, etc. files when they are? Any help in uploading pictures to Tripod would be appreciated. Can't seem to find the info on the site anywhere that relates to the problem. TIA Judith

Re: Web Site creation on Tripod-

Try adding .jpg to the end of your file names. 🙂 Hope this works. for example file name: painting1.jpg :-) Georgina

Re: Web Site creation on Tripod-

Make sure they are just .jpg, not jpeg Make sure there are no spaces or characters in the file names. No underscore marks, etc. Then see how you go...

Re: Web Site creation on Tripod-

Jillian - I made a website on Tripod, but I'm a little confused and have a question for you, a pro... To get to my website you don't type a www. first, correct? So if I now try to buy the domain for a year through them for the 12.95, do I then have to totally remake a new website in order to have the www.? How do you let people know on a business card NOT to type in www. first, and would that look tacky? WWJD (What Would Jillian Do???) Thanks, Laura

Re: Web Site creation on Tripod-

If you buy a domain you choose the name you want. The name will start always with www dot ... You need to find a host, if you use them, I'm not sure about transferring the details. It's easy to let people NOT to type www as ALL websites are http:// (or https:// - but that is another story). So on your card you would put http://whatever.tripod.com Does that help? This is for the FREE sites on tripod. ~Jillian

Re: Web Site creation on Tripod-

Thanks Jillian, that does help. From reading further on the Tripod website, it looks like I can choose my domain through them and then choose a link that will automatically forward to my Tripod webpages so I don't have to redo another website from scratch. I guess they (Tripod) would be the host that you referred to above. Laura

Yes, sounds like it. That would be the smart thing to do, and tripod is pretty smart. :) Have fun!
