Prayers for Ollie.....

Hi, All, We have had a very upsetting day....Oliver, (I've written about him here before, my "snuggle-baby" Ragdoll cat) got ahold of some plastic confetti strings, out of one of those party "poppers".....I have no idea where he found them, (we only had two of the "poppers", left over from a 50th birthday party my girls threw for their dad, my ex, last weekend. They thought that my 11 year old son, Jonathan, would have fun with them, and brought them over- they are both now blaming themselves) - as I try to be so diligent about keeping anything like that picked up/cleaned up, just like when I had little babies...... Anyway, I couldn't find Oliver this morning (he hadn't acted like anything was wrong), and when we did find him, hiding in an upstairs guestroom, he had BM all over his behind, with the strings in it - and was very lethargic (there was also an awful smell, worse than just "poo". I immediately called our vet, who was out on a call for a horse, so it took about 2 hours before he met us at the hospital. Ollie was in surgery for two hours, and our vet has just called me back, to tell me that he had passed all the string, but his bowel had "doubled back" on itself, and he had to remove an 8" section that was necrotic (thus the odor) - he came through the surgery okay, and is on massive antibiotics, but the bad part is that the doctor saw two other "dark" areas, that may or may not clear up, that he said he was "gravely" concerned about. We will know in a couple of days, but if they "necrose", we will lose Ollie - cats don't have enough length of intestine to take a lot out, and he is at the max, now. I had contacted Karen earlier about her Maine Coon babies; I hope that wasn't "intuition" or a "premonition" on my part.....I could never replace Oliver; he is such a love!...... Anyway, I know a lot of you are kitty-lovers, and we need lots of prayers....Ollie's chances aren't great, and we need all the "help" we can get....(I hope I haven't been too graphic and grossed anyone out)~ Thank you, Everyone... Hi. Everyone~ Unfortunately, Ollie had to go back to the veterinary hospital and is still there - he became very anemic after the surgeries (tests showed that he was not making red blood cells - he got a shot of B-12, which will hopefully help), and, he wouldn't eat for me at home - so, he is being syringe-fed there. Of all times for "everything to happen at once", I got the flu, and we got snow - (we hardly ever get more than a "dusting" here, and I dare not try to drive in the stuff!), so I didn't even get to see Ollie yesterday ...the vet admonished me to "stay home and get well" - (and not come out and spread it to them, was implied!)~ he told me he was "on a mission" to make Ollie well - I sure hope he can....Thank you for all your continued prayers! I agree with the vet! Obey doctors orders. I lost a lot of blood one time. I could not stand up. I did not like food- it becomes- I think like poison,. No blood - no digesting of food. They gave b-12 shots and vitamins. Hope Ollie gets better. You get well too!

All, Ollie is eating again today, but Dr.Lawrence wants him to stay there in the hospital a while longer 'til they see how things go.....I haven't posted much, as I was afraid I'd wear you all out with it....It really has been a roller-coaster~:-) Thanks Everyone~ Anne (& Ollie) >^..^<

Hi Anne, I'm happy for you and hope that Ollie will continue to get better ! :) One of my cat is ill too, and not well since yesterday... I have to go with him next week to Paris,to make him pass a scanner ... 1300km ! (800 miles I think ..) Big distance for my poor cat ! So I'm completely with you ... 😞
