Mickmuseum, Emu Pen, California. Fabulous collection, plus a few HarmoniousJosh pieces. Watch out for the cross dressing guard dogs.

The d'Orsay, because then I'm in Paris. And it has a lovely restaurant on the top floor. The V&A, because it means I'm in London, my favorite city ever. And it means Rules for dinner. The mickmuseum, because I can visit in my pajamas. With my gun. Those other museums search your handbag. -- Edited by golders at 11/05/2007 8:10 AM

I hated the Tate, I hate to say. The modern work left me depressed and in tears. I left without seeing all of it (but saw most). -- ~Jillian artist, Jillian Crider There is nothing like a dream to create the future...

The Crocker Art Museum in Sacramento has a pretty impressive collection. They also are just in the starting phase of adding on. something like 100,000 more square feet. At present, they are only able to display about 10% of their collection at any one time due to space constraints. Once the addition is completed they hope to display the majority of the collection, although I understand it still won't be possible to display everything.

My real favorite is the Maryhill museum. It's the converted mansion of Quaker Sam Hill, built in the Columbia River gorge in the Washington desert. A strange place in the middle of nowhere with a quirky collection of Native American artifacts, chess sets, Rodin castings and a full scale Stonehenge replica. Peacocks stroll the grounds and they've got nice restrooms. It must be my favorite because I've returned there more than any other museum. (We used it as a rest area for years.)

Golders is the only visitor allowed in the Mickmuseum in her jammies and fully armed. Most people are given a full body cavity search--entering and leaving.

I like the museums mentioned above (except for one which I'll get to in a moment), and would like to add the Uffizi in Florence, which is chock-o-block full of stuff I liked. Not to mention that there are several good shoe stores in the area that make the visit just that much more worthwhile. I've never been to the Mickmuseum; I've heard it has too many creepy relics and artifacts, like shrunken heads of people who've pissed Mick off in the past. *shudder*

I LOVE Sir John Soane's Museum in Lincoln's Inn Fields, London!!! Mazoommzee, if you haven't visited it yet, you must! I visit both the London Tates quite often, but prefer the National Portrait and National Galleries. I'm going to Barcelona in April - just for three days - and would welcome suggestions of places to visit. My other half isn't at all arty, but it's my birthday then, so I'm allowed to drag him around all the galleries :) Chris

The Corning Museum in NY. I went there once as a child and it still sticks in my mind - I hope to take my husband there someday as he absolutely loves antique glass and I think the art glass would thrill him too... other thn that, I have not been to too many museums... other than ones in Miami which were not that great. =(

My husband would never be allowed in any store, museum or gallery that displays glass. Bull in a china shop. Really. Golders, I'm afraid of Mick when he has Jarts.
