How do you promote and advertise your art?

Well I've been wondering about different ways to get the word out about our ACEO's and other art we create. If anyone would like to share their ideas and thoughts on how they drive more people to their auctions besides the just listing the art and hoping people will like it. Do you use other public website's or personal website's to promote? Are there places in your town that do shows that you'd like to tell us about? Are there some other large art groups on eBay that you know of that many collectors and artist flock too? I personally advertise on MySpace and in the groups ACEO ~ Art Cards Editions and Originals, ATC & ACEO Enthusiasts & Mexican DOTD Art Dia De Los Muertos Artists (when I do Skeletons or Day Of The Dead stuff). Are there any other groups that anyone would suggest or places where people gather to look at art and potentially buy art. eBay may have a problem with listing website's (I'm not sure if they do or not) so if you think its not ok maybe just say the name of the site like MySpace and we can find it ourselves. If you want to keep your secrets to yourself that's ok too I'm just trying to help everyone out a bit. Thanks, Kevin Johnson --

Hey Kevin and Shari, I just signed up on myartspace last night, too!!!! Great minds think alike.:-D Also, got my e-mail this morning. I've used local paper, search engines the free stuff, mailing list, I research for ideas - and places to promote my art. Regan, That is so awesome. To have a museum exhibit and sell there too is pretty heady stuff. I can't even imagine. I love your art. I used to collect and put together puzzles by Charles Wysocki - maybe you've heard of him. Anyway, he's a famous artist who started putting his art on puzzles. The narrator said Grandma Moses, but the first thing I thought was Charles Wysocki. If you don't know of him, look him up. I'm sure you'll be so inspired. Shari, I think I'm going to sign up for artbreak too and going to go check out fineartamerica. But, I have to start painting again. Why though, nothing is selling here. 😞 Gotta get the kinks in my picture posting skills iorned out so I can start plastering my art all over the web. Also, I need to work on a bio. Shari, I'd love it if you'd write a guide on promotion! And 'meta-tags' - I don't even know what those are -- & couldn't figure out how to send email direct to you...but I'd appreciate information! I'm so thrilled with the way our art photographs are doing - I'm getting busy organizing my office "business" (I can see where it would be a nightmare otherwise - we are taking photographs all the time) -- & one thing I need to do is work on promotion and marketing methods. Sue, I'd actually thought about a guide on promotion, but I have a feeling ebay would frown on an eBay guide that offered advice on promoting oneself in "off eBay" arenas. I could be wrong, but that's why I didn't "go there." Now... SUE! How about a guide on Photographic Art ACEOs??? How to turn your digital image into a beautiful ACEO and such. you can do it!!! 🙂 I'd love to read it! -- JeanneY

You could write a book or pamphlet on Artist Self Promotion and sell it on eBay though they can't say anything about that. --
