Hi,
I am selling my bag collection internationally and one the bag is going to US. Using the tracking service provided by USPS, the tracking shows :
Processed Through Sort Facility
February 12, 2012, 12:38 pm
ISC NEW YORK NY(USPS)
Registered Mail™
Origin Post is Preparing Shipment
Processed Through Sort Facility
February 10, 2012, 4:35 pm
SINGAPORE, SINGAPORE
Does that mean that my buyer has received the item? What is happening? Appreciate any advise.
Thanks

The package is going through "customs". If you keep checking with USPS you can find out the expected delivery date by putting the tracking number from overseas in the field. I just put in the tracking number from China and received a delivery date of tomorrow.

I just had a parcel land in the ISC New York and it took 24 hours and all of the sudden it said arrived in Stanford Connecticut Regional distribution center and tomorrow which is the 16th it will be at my door it would have been at my door today had the item then EMS however it's registered mail so it's not as fast as EMS travels

If in doubt about the status of your parcel, call the ISC FACILITY directly at 7185537271. Leave your name, contact #, tracking number, and they will get back to you or your parcel will be on time or on its way

The whole system is abysmal. People ordering on EBay from anywhere overseas must be forced to wait and with no real updates. The problems this creates is staggering. Consider the time frame. You place an order today. It ships out tomorrow from, say, China. It arrives in 4 To 5 days time in the states. Then it is processed through this so called sorting facility. The problem, once it starts that process, it takes longer then the trip from China to New York. That.......is unreasonable. I say, file claims. That way, the sellers must take a more active part in determining exact locations of shipped items or they must be forced to pay the customer back, even if the item eventually shows up. I dislike this system period. Its not frustrating. No, it's far worse then that. Its horrible and totally 19th century. In this age of bar codes and pc's such problems should have been all but eliminated by now. However, some prefer to keep such antiquated systems going because they benefit from it. The customer always gets screwed. As for me, to the devil with this system.

For real! I have several uncut gemstones from India sitting in customs for going on the 4th week, and that is after the 2 weeks for them to travel INSIDE India. On the other hand, I have had OTHER items from all over the world (including another couple of packages from India) that have gotten here in less than a week. I am impatient but I have had some international sellers refund after a month only to have the item delivered a few weeks later so I am never sure HOW MUCH impatient I should be.

Oh and several countries have online tracking in THEIR postal sites just like we do here in the US. Not all of them but many. Oddly, INDIA (my problem child this week) DOES have tracking so I at least know that the item got as far as ISC New York - SIX WEEKS AGO!

FYI - 18002758777 is the general USPS 1800 number. It doesnt specifically reach that sort center. Also nice to know, my mom's boyfriend has a house not far from this sort center (out by JFK airport). It is HUGE - imagine twice the size of a football stadium. It is a wonder that ANYTHING ever comes out of there with the volume of packages that go in and out every day.

I live not far from another huge international sort center here in Washington DC and our center is also incredibly busy and massive. So mine will go from one huge sort center to another THEN to my local sort center THEN to my PO THEN to my house. God willing. Im not holding my breath.

Last time I checked the phrase 'has been processed' is in the past tense...as in already done.
Why don't they say , "Your order is being processed'?

Just a follow up. My uncut gemstones got to ISC and appeard to "sit" for over a month. It turns out that they went to a post office here in the DC area that does not delivery to my zip code. NOBODY at that local PO made any effort to redirect it back to my correct post office and never notified anybody that it was waiting to pick up. MY PO down the street tracked it down for me and got it redirected - AFTER TWO MONTHS.

UPS international express mail and everyone's problem is solved. Ordered from Kroatia and was delivered to my front door 3 days later. I don't know why anyone would pay USPS the same fees for service like that.
