Just got a message from a buyer saying the tracking number for their item just says missent. Anyone seen this before and know exactly what it means? Missent is a bit ambiguous. Is the item going to be coming back to me? Is their a chance they will still get the item? TIA
Missent

I sure hope so.
i ordered an item for my son’s birthday which is in August on June 22.
Tracked the package and kept saying Exception, so I talked to the post mistress at our local post office.
She tracked it and then now it says missent.
Hope I get it soon.
I’ve contacted the company that I ordered it from.
They said they will send another one.
It’s coming from Wisconsin.
Hoping for the best.

I have a package that has been sitting in customs in Chicago for 3 weeks. It FINALLY left Chicago yesterday afternoon about 5. I live in southern IL, almost all the way to Kentucky, I live about half an hour from where the Ohio and Mississippi rivers meet. My package, instead of coming to the St. Louis sorting center next, which is where it SHOULD be, is sitting right now in Des Moines, Iowa. Go figure. LOL

I HATE Smartpost, I refuse to buy from sellers who use it. It's far too slow, and it does not solve the "missent" problems the USPS is having right now, since SmartPost is essentially the USPS anyway.
USPS may be making some routing changes right now, I've had two packages in a row that were coming to me from Chicago (I live in extremely southern Illinois, about 30 minutes north of Kentucky) that got routed through Kansas City, MO before going through St. Louis, which is the closest sorting center to me. I hope this isnt' going to be a "new normal" for USPS, because I'm only a 6 hour drive from Chicago, and 4-5 days arrival time for first class from Chicago is unacceptable.

Nine of the last ten items I've ordered have taken at least TWICE the guaranteed delivery time.
As a seller, I'm currently using FedEx to ship my items. It's more costly, but I can be sure the items won't bounce between post offices for two weeks, netting me poor ratings from my buyers.
USPS has really gone south since the new Postmaster General was appointed. I hope this is temporary. While I understand there is a lot going on right now, "two day priority" should NOT take 9+ days.
I concur that I cringe a bit when I receive a "smart post" tracking number. It's slower than setting a package outside and letting the wind carry it off...

That's what I'm going through. I bought postage for this DVD back in April, then misplaced it. Refunded that buyer and resold when I found it. I used the same mail form, but in Photoshop changed the address. Now it seems to be bouncing around IL and has said MISSENT 3 times. Now I'm thinking I screwed up and it uses the barcode to send instead.

Yes, if it's perishable, it will run into problems (Murphy's law)

It means they lost/stole it. They aren't going to admit they lost/stole it so they just say it's misent.
