Glad they got me out of hospital after just 1 night. Nurse and phys therapist coming today. Figure things going as well as can be expected. Sleeping tough. Can't do a regular night in bed.

sleep in recliner?

Yes recliner recommended but I don't have one and would still have issue with sleeping on back. Never been able to do that. Sleep in fetal position on left side. Maybe good news for future is that is unoperated side. So using my double chaise longue with pillow tower on left to at least be able to lean a bit in that direction and/or tilt head that way. Don't know how long have to do that. Already have seen info. on Web different from what my Doc does, so that random info. not all that useful. 4 bulging discs complaining about so much time in chair!

devil is in the DETAILS
sounds like getting good sleep is going to be a battle along with silencing the screaming of the bulging discs. Top priorities of rest and finding a comfortable position are going to be trial and error for a while and that will add frustration to the mix. Just don't watch the news to add to the grumpiness. And then people wonder how folks can get addicted to pain medication. Best bet is to phart around with finding a position or two that will work. And hope the healing process doesn't take too long, but as we age, healing is slower. Wonder if sleep on back with pillows or box propped under lower legs, folding knees upward to create a make-shift fetal position. This will help spread the vertebrae to alleviate pressure on those discs. Wish I could draw a picture🙄

LAST Details
Thanks, shirls. Yesterday had a nurse pop in followed by a phys therapist, just one visit from each. Wanted help from latter on sleep position. His help was calling surgeon's asst. who again said she has to sleep on her back and not in a bed. Tomorrow is an xray and dressing change. 1 am I was in awful pain, afraid I'd messed up the shoulder while trying to sleep, but better today. Found an old Ambien in order to get back to sleep at 3 for a few hours.

last STRAW
Hey, the truck door has perfect image of how your legs should be positioned while on your back using the pillows or box I was telling you about. The image in the link I gave you is close to what I was trying to explain. The buttocks/back of thighs should be right up against the pillows or box. Ooops, I see they don't want you to sleep in a bed. Well, to the chaise lounge you go then😑 Hope your appt. goes well tomorrow.

Straw POLL
Xray and wound look as they should look, so good appt. today. Will just be vegetating at home until next appt. 4/14.

Yes, that weather did try to kill us last week and in fact, within the wide swath it took through a third of the country, it did take 32 lives.
poll ~ public OPINION
So far, so good. That will be a long vegetation period until 4/14. So, what do you have to do to help pass the time away? Generally, at our age time flies by so quickly, but not so when limited or uncomfortable. Reading? Crosswords? Movies? Computer? Phone? Booze? 🤣

Opinion - EVERYONE has one!
So far mostly ricocheting between TV and PC. Fav streaming svc on TV is my Premium YouTube. Unfortunately was all caught up on new movies to rent. New one "Black Bag" looks worthwhile whenever it gets to VOD. Do have a couple new books to read. Writing hand connected to operated side so have not tried crosswords yet. No booze as don't want to gain weight with those empty calories! (Recently got down to 135. Since weight in 20's 130, not bad for old lady!) Was uncomfortable during car ride so not anxious for more of that right now.

everyone ~ a great CROWD
Wonder what's in it for the dog? It's a Siamese he/she is aiding and abetting, so probably a little swat (without claws) on the nose.
I'm trying to get down to 135 and having a time. I like to snack too much. In my 30's I pretty much stayed at 128. I know, weird number, but we weighed in monthly (Army) and that is what the scale would say. I try not to get over 140. I can feel it when that extra 5 lbs comes on. Just losing that much makes me feel a whole lot better. If I go much lower than 135, I get the 'Ozempic' face and I'm not on the stuff. Not sure what kind of workout you could put your face through to keep up the shape. Everything starts to go to pot after the 'pause'.

Crowd - THREE
Always have had to watch weight. Couple years ago had lost about 12 pounds after porking out a bit. Sister's response to this when she made a trip up here: "I can tell you've lost weight. I can see the lines in your face." Nice and supportive, right? My response back similar to yours, that I felt good at that weight. I have a low energy level that wants to be fed and, unfortunately, an empty stomach will keep me awake at night: Worst time to eat. Good news is that I really do like a lot of low cal choices for which I don't worry about portions, e.g., a certain plain rice cake from our Albertson's affiliate, cottage cheese, that leftover, plain rotisserie chicken they box up to to get rid of, etc. Whenever dogs visit me, they're very happy I stock the latter!
No Cubs game today, but coverage of world figure skating championships start at 2 Central on USA, in case you're interested. Of course I am, as I have nothing else to do!

three on a MATCH
I didn't have to watch my weight until after the 'pause'. Before that I could eat like a horse and not have to worry. I think my Basal Metabolic Rate must be pretty low. Like you, sometimes can't sleep on empty stomach and that is worst time to eat. When I get anxious or stressed out, I grab for goodies. I think another thing that really helped with keeping weight down was smoking. I would just grab a cig instead of a donut or cookie or meal bar. No way would I go back to that nasty habit just to keep the pounds off.

MatchBOX
Maybe 2 sides of same coin: Either have weight issues since birth or surprised by them at midlife. Both difficult. Also former smoker. Really enjoyed it at the time!

box full of LOLO 😂
just something my SIL said one time..Hawaii language for 'crazy or dummy'
Oh yes, I enjoyed smoking too and it was a bugger to quit. Have to want to, otherwise it is futile.
