The Ranch has little traffic. You'll sell a few things a month, maybe.
After I hurt my back 4 years ago and had to shut down my brick and mortar music store, I tried to use the Ranch to sell off a lot of my items. I kept at least 40-50 items listed for a little over a year. Had a total of ONE sale. Not worth the effort it took me to list there. Never again.

I hate the new ebay listing style. They should not charge for listing auction items period! I quit listing anything on ebay because of the starting at 0.99 cents **bleep** just to list my books for free, then I end up loosing big time because the books sell way below my cost, its not right that I can't compete against the big sellers here because ebay won't allow free listings for me to set my starting bids were I want them, so I still buy here ever so often but now sell only on AMAZON as it doesn't cost me a dime to list, so if it doesn't sell, I'm out nothing, unlike ebay.
Actually, you have it comPLETEly backward. eBay was a MUCH better venue when they charge the seller for EVERY listing. It kept a lot of the JUNK off here and made it a better place. Back then a listing would cost you anywhere between a quarter to 50-75 cents up front, or more if you added certain features... BUT, you nearly always sold your items because the marketplace was MUCH friendlier. They need to start charging for EVERY listing again, it would clean the place up A LOT. Sincerely, someone who has been here since nearly the very beginning of eBay.

I feel your pain. Last week I got a letter from the IRS saying that I owed money on what PayPal reported I "grossed" in 2016, which was just over $20,000. They INCLUDE what the buyer pays for postage as part of the "gross income!" That's gross alright! So not only are they saying I owe a bunch of back taxes on my little sales from two years ago, I also owe INTEREST AND PENALTIES! For a new tax I never even heard of until the letter came last week! Who ever even heard of a "1099K?" I NEVER received a tax statement from PayPal or eBay or the IRS in regard to this. We have H & R Block prepare our taxes every year and all I recall the preparer asking about my eBay business was "did I make over $20K." Well, no, of course I didn't! So that was the end of the discussion. I always said that if the government ever got its grubby paws into my eBay sales that was going to be the end of it. I can't support eBay at 10%, PayPal at 2.9%, the USPS, and now Uncle Sam at whatever percent they choose. So this summer I'm going to have to put on a HUGE garage sale and get rid of all my inventory. Everybody just got too greedy trying to tap into the paltry income of the eBay seller, what with eBay and PayPal determining their fees based on what the buyer pays in total, which includes postage! And postage rates went up, too! So that's the end of it. Now eBay, PayPal, the USPS, and the IRS will get JACK SQUAT from me. Thanks a lot!

Where to start?
This is 100% your responsibility. You should expect the IRS to audit your previous years' returns as well.

So sad Ebay is going downhill Fast. I sold a purse description used, took pictures of all parts of the purse. NO returns is an option and I chose it. I washed and hung up the purse before selling it. I get an email from buyer claiming it has black, yellow and sticky gross on it. She says I found a new one for a little more. As you can see by all pictures this item is clean as can be. I call Ebay. Shania says sounds like buyers remorse. We are in your favor. Call back on Friday. I ask why, she says thats when I have to call back. Later that day I get an email stating they decided in buyers favor! ????? So I call and talk with a supervisor, Christy tells me she gave me wrong info and they will take care of it. Just to take a picture of the purse when I get it back and show it is still clean. I explain, I took great photos, NOT tampered with, Option is NO returns, and description is AS shown. I get the purse back. NO black, NO yellow, NO sticky. So I take pictures and call Ebay again! I get Trudy an appeals specialist. She tells me NO i dont need your pictures????? Huh? I can appeal but the buyer gets her money back. Maybe even return shipping!! I made 7.00 on a Vera Bradley purse. I paid 20 back to the buyer plus return shipping. And OH ebay is gonna keep the original fees. So a 5.00 profit turned into a 32.00 loss!!!! These are there NEW policies she tells me! Why have an opition for NO returns then??? I think I will sell my stuff on another site! Good luck EBAY I have been with them since they started pretty much. Without Sellers you have no BUYERS!!

You are responding to a poster from 2010 and saying you don’t pay your fees, which will go into collections? 👌🏻

I shut down two weeks ago after I. Had mass fake returns got back empty boxes from 2 and recived a used shirt in another then recived a item not recived claim. They recived it and had to sign for it they lost the case then ebay let them open a return no joke. So far lost money in 2018 on ebay by out right stealing over 1500. On amazon no money lost. So I no longer by or sell here. Bye everyone

i dont care whre it goes- im not paying ANYONE ANYTHING for a service that was not rendered to me. maybe the credit "sheep" of the world will sit there and pay for things for no reason except that someone taught them that the corporation was God-not I.

Smaller sellers like me have to find a new platform. Ebay will give your items away for you, you loose money, they still make a profit. After 20 years, I find it impossible to get enough views to sell an item. I have listed items that a reseller could sell for 200 plus for less than 10 dollars. Really? The problem, there are no bidding wars for your items. Why? No one sees your listing.

There's really no way to resolve this as long as buyers can do no wrong and sellers can do no right. In a conversation with Wall Street investors questioning ebay's profit resources, ebay's CEO openly admitted that the 2018 profit was a product of raising fees for small time sellers while reducing it for the big guys. It's a matter of numbers: 87% of us are small time. There are months when I'd make more with a cloth bag and a beer can stabber trolling the local highway.

I follow eBay news VERY closely and I've NEVER seen anything like you are talking about eBay's CEO saying? Where is your link for proof? It's only fair that you should share it so everyone else can see...

YES THEY ARE! It's a combination of buyers wanting everything CHEAP and shipped FREE, and large sellers, especially Chinese complying with that philosophy! eBay does not protect the small sellers, and that is why I am leaving, for the third and last time!
