I'm going back to 3 day handling and paid shipping
I'm also raising my prices

Obviously ebay NEVER reached their REDUCTION goal of TRS+ listings with their new shipping metrics , so they are finally biting the bullet and taking the public relations HIT by cutting the discount in half...
They did plan on it ! True . I don't need it . and wll go back to 3 day handling may 1st.

I'm a TRS doing what I've always done, and I've never counted on any freebie gifts from Ebay, because I know they can be taken away at any second. I don't factor any discounts in my business plan, it's just gift or found money in my pocket. I don't count on finding money on the street every day, and I don't count on discounts Ebay gives me. Same thing.
I'm more upset with the fee increase. That's a tangible expense, and on top of the recent shipping cost increase I may wind up raising prices, something I haven't had to do in a while.
You know what may response to this increase in FVF and decrease in TRS discount is? List less here and drop the store. Bam! eBay just lost a guaranteed $24.95 per month, or in my case, another 10%. I will also spend more time listing on a different site where fees are significantly lower.
I won't raise fees and put even more money in eBay's pockets. I'll actually be able to lower them on the other site, if I so choose and still make more money.
I'm also glad g-sale/estate sale season is starting. There are always disillusioned people talking about wanting to sell on eBay. I usually snicker and keep my mouth shut. That won't be the case this year.
BTW, you can't help but wonder if this huge increase, taken in its various forms, has something to do with the possible higher postal rates and the uncertainty of what will happen with imports with Trump. Maybe they're building up their golden parachutes in order to bail out if the walls come tumbling down.

You definitely missed something somewhere. Only BELOW Standard sellers are getting charged an extra 4%, meaning you have to already have caused a lot of problems. New sellers start out automatically at Above Standard. Above Standard still pays 10%. No changes there.

I too was doing the math. I am a small seller with a basic store, top rated seller, not plus, have a 3 day handling time and no returns policy. I don't need the stress of 1 day shipping, although I usually ship same or next day. Of course, I will take a return if a customer isn't happy, I've had 2 since I started here. I have no desire to be a Plus. I'm happy in my own little world. Seems like the bigger one gets, the more hoops to jump through to keep up with all the changes. Store subscription comes up in April, which I don't plan to renew. My only other plan is to buy a printer so I can take advantage of discounted shipping. That should be enough for me to offset any increases due to not having a store.

Who Remembers $.25 and add and 2% Fee.
What a long Strange Trip it has Been.

What really upsets me is that I have been TRS since the very beginning, never lost it for even a single month
I jumped thru every hoop eBay placed in front of me, I always put the customer first even if it cost me money.
I did everything I could for this company, bought IPO stock, went to eBay Live #1, I even took the time to talk with Meg Whitman.
I have lived and breathed eBay for the past 17 years.
I would dare ask if any of you have ever seen a cheerleader as prominent as I have been.
I've risked it all to pom pom this company even at the risk of getting negatives from disgruntled eBayers.
NO MORE!
They broke the rules of engagement and I'm not going to play that game.
I surrender my TRS with no regerts (sic)

Ahhh, I've been waiting for this one too along with some other thoughts onthe subject ... but too many of those comments would push this thread to the Soapbox ... so we'll just settle for giving you the lightbulb award badge:

Yes, we sellers keep bailing but Ebay keeps drilling more holes in the bottom of the boat! I'm a smaller seller but I was selling more expensive items. I could easily meet the $$$ and service requirements for TRS but never the number of transactions.
Never understood why they cared how many items you sold when they were making $$ on the sale price anyway. And not charging listing fees on a lot of the sales.

The problem with this thread is there is NO solution, just grief.
May 1st will be a turning point in eBay's future (DID I REALLY SAY THAT)

@teklifestyle wrote:Migrating over to amazon is looking very attractive at the moment.. I lost my TRS over christmas first time in 4 years due to a minor mistake on our part. But I will be getting it back in 3 weeks... This change is going to cost me 1000's of dollars a year and ebay is trying to spin it as good for us ? Imagine these stores doing over a million a year in sales they are going to be losing 50k + a year. Start Charging basic sellers more fees and quit hurting your bread and butter ebay it doesnt make sense.
IF you are serious, read the boards on Amazon very closely. Amazon is making many subtle moves to eliminate almost all small sellers and go with just professional businesses selling on their site. The days of selling your old iphone or old college textbooks on Amazon is coming to a close. An example is that "new" sellers can no longer sell dvd's on the site (new or used) unless you provide wholesale receipts from 3 legitimate dvd wholesalers proving you are not buying bootleg movies to resell. (Alibaba or anyone located in China are NOT legitmate wholesalers... lol!)
They are also enforcing UPC (and now GS1) codes for any new products added to the catalog. Soon the days of buying UPC codes in bulk on Ebay to add items to the Amazon catalog will be gone. If you are not the listed brand owner of the GS1 code you will not be allowed to add items to their site soon.
They are also stepping up suspending sellers (everyday several post on the forums).

@scheaf wrote:I agree. 10% is not worth the hassle. I will no longer offer returns at all and my handling time is going from 1 day back up to 3 days. I will also go back to just throwing my packages up on the counter and leaving and not caring if they get scanned or not. I will also be concentrating much more heavily on Amazon, since the fees will now be so much closer together, the extra effort that ebay requires to create listings isn't worth it either. Would rather just click a few buttons on Amazon and sell quickly than pay the same ridiculous fees and sell slower and spend 10 minutes or more per listing. Really, Ebay, the ONLY thing you have over Amazon is fees. If you take away that advantage, why would I sell here at all?
Funny, Amazon fees are going up A LOT tomorrow! And they are stepping up suspending sellers for poor metrics, so you had better not throw the Amazon packages up on the counter!

I'd like to know who asked eBay to cut our TRS discount in half!
they are saying we did

Just wondering if this will decrease the amount of support the Community gets from disgurntled Sellers ... hmmm.
