Promoted listings allowance

Is the promoted listing program still going to only apply to MULTI quantity listings?  If so, is there something else tho of us who don't have them can "spend" the allowance on?

"Promoted listings so far was only available for multi-quantity listings. We are beta testing the product for single quantity fixed price listings right now. Our hope is to release it in time for when the seller release changes take effect. Please stay tuned. Thanks!"

Uh-oh.  Here we go with the cut 'n paste reply, again.

Have Heidi and Trinton been giving classes in this?

Yes, listings with a .99 item to garner them the lowest position in search by price results, but always with illegal variation listings that never have any .99 item or it is a shoe lace or something not related to the listing itself.  This is very annoying as a buyer.  Now these listings will also appear on everyone else's listings where Sears or Dillards used to be.  At least a store was kind of reputable.  Hope this goes better than what I envision.

I really love that part of Ebay; in fact, one of my better selling categories is gently used children's clothing.  So, why take away a benefit from ALL Top Rated Sellers (in the form of a discount on final value fees) and give it to only those sellers who sell multi-quantity items (in the form of a promotional credit)?   Just trying to understand the reasoning.  THank you!

Because chinese sellers use MQ listings all of the time(to get their listings just to show up on top by listing an always out of stock 99 cent item while the rest is 20-30.00).

Need any more reason?

Hi, please note the intention for promoted listings is not be purely for large sellers only. Our focus last year was on expanding to all categories that have multi-quantity listings. Now that we are open in most categories, our focus this year is to expand the product to single quantity fixed price listings. We are beta testing that right now. Our hope is to release promoted listings to fixed price single quantity in time for when the seller release changes take effect. Please stay tuned.

But, that isn't "New AND Improved".

penguins_dont_fly,

You ask a number of questions, in post #8 - - I didn’t repost given the length, but captured some of the key questions:

"What else is eBay doing for Store sellers to help increase velocity? Getting rid of off site ads will help, thank you, but ..."

We are doing a number of things to help drive item visibility and sales conversion for sellers, including:

1. Removing third party listing ads - this removes direct competition from sellers

2. Starting national radio and billboard advertising in March, followed by TV advertising later this spring

3. Expanding the availability of promoted listings to top rated sellers (I understand this is not a benefit if you are not selling multi-qty items, but a single item capability will be coming soon)

Remember: you only pay the promoted listing fee when the item sells.

4. Expanding the number of placements for promoted listings - increasing the visibility

5. Enhancing the visibility of promotions manager campaigns on mobile

I don’t have an update on stores on mobile for you, but will take it back to the stores team.

On Google ad words and visibility for Pottery & Glass, there is a team that is continually evaluating the best way to drive traffic to the site. I'll take this back to them.

Thanks for selling on eBay.

Brian

So my TRSP discount is cut in half in excange for a $30 PL credit I can't use (being a OOAK seller)?

Thanks.

Don't you think that it's a bit disingenuous not to mention in the announcement that PL's are for multi-quantity items only?

The link to how promoted listings works is in the very section of the landing page. We are not intentionally trying to hide this information. But thank you for pointing this out. We will update the FAQs to include this information. Note that Single quantity is in beta testing right now and will be available to OOAK sellers soon. Thank you for the feedback.

@shefs_promotedlistings
Soon enough to not lose my first promotion credit?
If that's the case ebay should have not rolled this out yet or figured a way to make up the difference to sellers who cannot take advantage of it .
Prehaps waited until the fall update so it was a level field for all ebay sellers to take advantage of.

Please note the Seller release changes don't go into effect yet. We hope to make promoted listings for single quantity available in time for when the changes go into effect.

The math is very simple, I pay Ebay 8-10 grand a year in FVF from 3 different Ebay names we use and they give back 20 percent on each, now they want to cut it in half.... We jump through hoops to meet the requirements ARRRRG,,,,, and Ebay offers us a crummy 30 bucks for something we really cant use... We sell one off items Antiques pottery glass jewelry. MULTI quantity listings don't usually apply to us... I did try it on Beta and for us it was Blaaa, we did sell a few glass items but at 16 18 percent and we offer free shipping whats the bottom line. YUK..... Let those who want to opt in to the 30 dollar pool do so.. Ones who have multiples of the same item....... but for me It just Hurts the Bottom Line.
