Return policy and new changes

Ebay is doing nothing for the seller. There is absolutely zero support on returns for the seller. The buyer holds all the cards. And the new policy changes are nothing great for the seller. I am so tired of Ebay not supporting us sellers!!! I am going to sell off what I have and quit selling on here. I changed to a store to get lower fees and I end paying 10% on average to Ebay. I paid that before, when I was just an average Joe. Ebay really needs to change some policies to be more in the sellers favor. Ebay doesn't even follow sellers rules that we set up. It doesn't matter what the sellers policies are,Ebay does whatever they want. Zero,Zero support to sellers!

Re: Return policy and new changes

The board was closed to new threads on April 7, just 2 days after it opened.  You can see that Griff's most recent edit of the announcement post at the top of the board.  In fact, there was an interim status in which the board was completely closed, not even allowing replies to existing threads.

This is in contrast to past discussion boards about the semi-annual updates; for instance, the board for the Fall 2015 Seller Update was open, even to new threads, even after this one was set up though it has now been completely closed.

Re: Return policy and new changes

Well Ebay, You have done it again. You are not Amazon whose sellers are selling a bunch of new mdse. You are not Wal-Mart. Ebay has many sellers who just run a small business here online. I sell books, estate jewelry, many things which can be used / changed out / "borrowed" and then returned within the new prolonged 30 days return policy. I could care less about having a top rated seller status if I do not get the discount of less 10 / less 20 which I had before as a top rated seller plus. You have effectively removed all my incentive to sell for you. You have no respect or concern for how you treat your best sellers. You tried this before several Christmases ago and I stopped listing just as I am going to stop listing on this site now. I will go over to other more "seller friendly" selling sites like Etsy. This is again cutting off your nose to spite your face, Ebay. Shame on you! Treat your best sellers - the ones with excellent feedback and track records better or they will stop making you money. I could care less about the top rated seller seal. I was motivated by the discount as anyone with a brain would be, and you have once again effectively removed the reason I was willing to work so hard. Now that I am not a top rated seller plus without the benefits and discounts, I do not feel the need to ship next day or anything extra. It is a general malaise about how you treat your sellers and a slipping down on my willingness to perform. It is bad business any way you slice it and it will show in your bottom line. Many will not catch on to this policy change until they peruse their next bill with the discounts missing. You need to understand that our relationship is a 2 way street. The way you favor buyers on returns is also a gigantic concern with managing this new extended return policy. On top of witholding my discount I see you are also raising your store fees. Ebay must be hurting and it tells me it is time to look elsewhere to sell. Fix this or I am gone!

Re: Return policy and new changes

I totally agree! I sell clothing on Ebay. What is to stop someone from buying an article of clothing, using it, then returning it? Granted with a 14-day policy they could do this, but 30 days makes it that much worse. I wonder if Ebay even see's how much the sellers hate this change?

Re: Return policy and new changes

I agree with you totally eBay does not support sellers.  The buyers are taking advantage of this new return policy and the feedback should be totally removed we support eBay with our fees not the buyers.  I am seriously considering closing my store about fed up with this return policy 4 returns just this month

Re: Return policy and new changes

They took 25% of one of my items.  I don't have a store, and certainly wouldn't be interested at this rate.  I am not going to be forced to take returns no matter what the enticement.  I'm also not going to list anything for .99 cents.  I don't work for free.   I'm aware of the eBay software changing my price when I plug in the price I want to list it for.  This is most likely no technical glitch.  This is probably eBay forcing their agenda on us.

Re: Return policy and new changes

Ignore them.  Their suggestions are ridiculous, as is their suggested pricing, and if they want sellers to issue refunds, do it by volume of sales, not for the person running a one-man/woman operation and trying to supplement their income.  Most of us are not department stores.  We shouldn't have to abide by policies that only a department store could follow without negative economic consequences.

Re: Return policy and new changes

I am sick of this. I wish there was a better solution for the amount of traffic they drive. I just spent the last hour with ebay having them explain to me why I got a seller defect for reporting a buyer who was abusing the returns process. The exact explaination was ebay wants us to contact them as a last resort. I have an anchor store, I pay an average salary to them annually in fees and in return I get hit with a defect for reporting... what the heck is going on here??????

Re: Return policy and new changes

eBay has a long history of non-support for sellers that I've been accepted for 20 years. In particular, the total control that buyers have to say almost anything they want in feedback. Some just fire off a negative without communicating with sellers. Some, out of spite or anger, attempt to do as much damage as possible with negative remarks, even if they receive an immediate refund and get the item for free. The most disturbing aspect, however, is the arbitrary practice of holding funds for any number of reasons which I find to be in violation of banking regulations. The only recourse for buyers is to discuss matters with Filipino agents reading from a script. Obviously, I've dealt with these difficulties for years, but when PayPal held funds for 21 days (despite a stellar long-term selling record); it became intolerable. I can only surmise that there is a hidden advantage for PayPal, but eBay is responsible for this policy which has damaged my perception of a one-time great company.
