The new 30 day return policy means that I will go by the wayside as a Power Seller and that I will reduce my return policy rather than extend it. The items I sell are subject to mishandling and abuse almost immediately and a 30 day return policy will mean that if someone sees it for a lower price, I will receive the item back. The recent additions to buyer protections for me has introduced me to a more mean spirited Ebay buyer,...one who constantly threatens me with bad feedback and other demands if I don't cave to whatever thay wish. This has been my experience and adding another 16 days will make it worse. Just my opinion but you might as well take away my ribbon right now. I am not willing to try anymore...What's next...

I couldn't agree more. I am a power seller on another account that I have here, selling "fad" products. So the first week my products are released they are worth double the amount they are worth just a short while later. Yes, that's not a typo. If I offered 30 day returns, someone could return a $400 product just so they can buy it at $200 if it's still available a few weeks later.
To my mind the 30 day return policy is just a smokescreen. Ebay doesn't really care about returns. What they care about are the millions of dollars they'll save by all the sellers that will refuse to upgrade and therefore will forfeit their 20% discount. Eveyone thinks this change means Ebay cares only about the big sellers. It's actually the opposite. Think what a 20% loss means to a big seller. That's huge, nothing compared to a mom and pop store. Since I cannot offer 30 day returns, and in fact don't even enjoy having 14 day returns, I will be selling alot more on social media and paypal direct from the customer database that I already have. Ebay just might turn itself into the next Best Buy, a giant showroom where actual sales take place elsewhere. They really should give some thought to that.
To those who say Paypal requires a 90 day return policy anyway, very few customers are actually aware of this, so those returns are a very tiny percentage compared to the returns done directly through Ebay. I think I've only had two direct paypal returns in the past year, with hundreds of sales.

PP does not "require" any type of "return policy". PP has no such policy at all and never has. PP's policy is a CLAIMS policy. There is a big difference. With that said, you should also be aware that PP has a 180 day [6 month] claim policy. They changed to the 180 days back in November of 2014, creeping up on 2 years ago.

Yes, I do realize that Ebay wants to keep the 20% top rated seller discount from the top rated sellers who cannot offer a 30 day return policy. This is all about their profit and bottom line for their shareholders. I have noticed that many top rated sellers who cannot do a 30 day return policy are going to all sales are final return policy instead now. Might as well, because Ebay doesn't want us to have that 20% that sellers earned anyway. Ebay has gotten so far away from their original business model, that it is no longer a place for sellers to do business. Many sellers have left due to all the bad business policies and rule changes that ONLY benefit Ebays profits. So Ebay is now competing with all those sellers who are now selling on other sites. Way to go Ebay, can you think of any other ways you can get more great sellers to leave Ebay ? ? I have already taken off my most expensive items when you automatically side with the buyers in fraudulent SNAD claims. No seller can afford for Ebay to encourage, promote and facilitate the buyers committing fraud. Now you take away the 20% discount that I have worked so hard for. I guess its time to find other ways to make that up huh ? ?
