Custom Item Description--I don't want to use part of my regular description

In an answer on another thread, Justin suggested that an 800-character Custom View be created using the beginning of my "regular" description.

I don't want to do that.

Question:

Can I create a separate 800-character Custom View block of html that WILL appear on a mobile device, but NOT on a PC?

Comment:

If eBay doesn't provide a character counter when a seller creates one of these Custom Views, this is going to be a colossal pain in the rear!

Frankly I don't care if I sell anything to anyone by phone.  I don't understand anything you want here and I guess I am done selling because you lost me in all the techie clutter.  I don't know how to html anything or what not to do or do, so why bother.

You don't need to do anything. eBay will automatically select a sentence or two from your item descriptions to show mobile viewers and there will be a "more" link right underneath so buyers can view full descriptions.

Everything being discussed is for sellers who want to customize the text shown on mobile view instead of letting ebay choose for them.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with not using the html tagging and letting eBay decide if that's what's easiest for you!

We are completely lost. We recognize some computer terms but have no idea how to utilize.

Let's start with mobile experience vs desktop experience. What!!??

we assume that you mean using, buying on  a mobile phone. Correct? Does that include I pads?

Please give information in terms that are understandable.

Pretend that you are giving info to a user who is ignorant about any computer terms or usage, because in our case you are.

We are completely ignorant of doing much more on the computer than we already do.

We are willing to learn but not devote massive amounts of time. In simple terms, it would not be cost effective for us to spend ten or twenty hours learning computer skills. We make very (very) little per hour as it is.

We want to sell things, not be deeply informed on computer technology.

I wouldn't care about smartphone users buying my stuff, except I sell OOAK antique, collectible, and used, and...

1) Smartphone buyers who won't/don't read significant information in my item description before buying could come back at me with a SNAD.  I'd be stuck with a return, with me paying for the return shipping.  This hasn't happened to me yet, but I won't be surprised when it does.

2) Smartphone buyers who won't/don't read significant information in my item description before buying will sometimes read that full description (including photos) after buying.  They can then immediately decide the item wasn't really what they wanted and come back at me with a "Buyer Wants to Cancel" email from eBay.  Fine.  No return, no defect or ding on my account.  But, they have wasted my time and one of my now-precious free listings.  This has happened to me twice in the last month.

There is no way I can prevent smartphone users seeing and buying my items.

There is no way I can force smartphone users to click on the Full Description link.

So, in self defense, I shall learn how to use eBay's new 800 Character Custom View feature.  My own, carefully-chosen words have to be more relevant than the 250 supposedly-important characters that eBay bots are currently picking from my item descriptions and displaying to smartphone users.
