Absolutely. I soak and scrub, over and over, until the smell is gone. I figure that any smell that remains will ruin any paint job. Just one of those things --- stripping paint isn't always alot of fun. Lee In Tucson

I do have acetone but with its price, I tend to try the cheaper alcohol route first. And you do have to work quickly with the acetone or some plastics can get softened. Alcohol is much easier and forgiving to work with except when you get the disolve...

Paint thinner (mineral spirits)worked in with an old tooth brush did the same as to the paint that soap and water did, i.e. nothing. So I am guessing that the 'weathering' was done with an acyrlic paint. It sure comes off real nicely after being soak...
