I am trying to assess a buyer to ensure it’s not a scam. I listed a
vintage tricycle for local pickup only . It’s been on eBay for about 9
months. Just two days ago, a buyer offered to purchase it at $110
(asking price) and is willing to pay $90 ship...
I shipped a fragile item well-packed and double-boxed. It arrived
broken. I have no reason to doubt the buyer and am happy to refund the
purchase price but who eats the shipping costs in this case? This is the
first time I’ve ever had this situation....
This makes the most sense: keeping it as a local pickup with the buyer
arranging for shipping using Pirate Ship or similar service. Thanks for

The $90 I quoted for shipping (and, yes, I did measure and weigh) is the
eBay discounted price so I’m now realizing it seems I would have to sell
it via eBay (e.g. not go the route of keeping it a local pickup) in
