So I just sold an item and after receiving payment the buyer wants to add additional insurance on the shipment. Can I send a second invoice for insurance?

So I shipped an item and it arrived broken. I have no problem refunding for the actual item but am I responsible for the original shipping? Also I don't want the item back because why would I waste money paying for shipping a broken item back to me? ...
