Seller states there is a five day inspection period on buyer’s part before funds are released by me. Is that correct? Should I trust this transaction?

Seller will not refund damaged item. Doesn’t have another to replace, bought as Christmas present

Bought as Christmas present so not opened til then. Bought in late October. Seller was communicating but then stopped and removed listing so now I can’t even reach her. Item was $70 or I’d just forget it!
